🧭 1. Definition: What Is the Gospel?
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 NKJV
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
Greek: euangelion = "good news"
Explanation: The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for sinners, was buried, and rose again.
Ask: "Why is this ‘good news’ instead of just ‘news’?"
📝 Definition to Teach: The gospel is the good news of what God has done through Jesus to save sinners.
🚫 2. There Is Only One Gospel
Key Verse: Galatians 1:6–9 “6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”
v.6 “the grace of Christ”
v.8 “If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
Warning Against:
Gospel of works (you earn salvation)
Prosperity gospel (God just wants you rich/happy)
Moralism (be good and God will love you)
Ask: "What’s the danger of believing the wrong gospel?"
Illustration Idea: Two bridges:
Man-made bridge = our works (falls short)
God's bridge = the cross (reaches all the way)
🏷️ 3. Names of the One True Gospel
Explore how Scripture refers to the gospel:
Title Reference What It Emphasizes
Gospel of the Kingdom Matthew 4:23 God's reign and rescue plan
Gospel of Grace Acts 20:24 Salvation is a gift, not earned
Gospel of Peace Ephesians 6:15 Reconciliation with God
Eternal Gospel Revelation 14:6 It’s God’s unchanging plan
Gospel of Christ Romans 1:16 It centers on Jesus
Gospel of Salvation Ephesians 1:13 It’s the message that saves
Ask: "Which of these names helps you understand the gospel best—and why?"
📑 4. Evangelism Explosion Outline “The Call”
5 simple categories to explain the gospel:
1. Grace – Ephesians 2:8-9
Salvation is by grace—Heaven is a gift—not something we earn.
2. Man – Romans 3:23; 6:23
1 John 3:4 “4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.”
Joshua 1:18 “18 “Anyone who rebels against your command and does not obey your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.”
Matthew 5:48 “48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
All have sinned; our sin separates us from God.
3. God – 1 John 4:8; Exodus 34:7
God is loving and just. He must punish sin but desires to save.
4. Jesus – Romans 5:8; John 14:6
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He died to pay our penalty. and rose to life on the third day.
5. Faith – John 1:12 “12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,” Acts 16:31 “31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.””
Saving faith is trusting in Jesus alone, not just knowing facts or doing good.
📌 Memory Help: Grace – Man – God – Jesus – Faith
🚪 Closing Invitation – How to Respond
Help students personalize the message:

Romans 3:23 – Admit you are a sinner in need of rescue
✝️ Realize - BELIEVE

🔄 Repent - CHOOSE
– Turn from sin and toward Jesus
Acts 3:19 “19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;”
Romans 12:2 “2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
🎁 Receive – Trust Jesus by faith; receive Him as Savior and Lord
John 1:12 “12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,”
