DOES YOUR PROMISE FROM GOD NEED YOUR AMEN? 2 Corinthians 1:20 “For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.”
2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,”
2 Corinthians 1:22 “who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.”
Can you identify the five things God has done for US? His glory is revealed THROUGH us; He ESTABLISHES us in Christ; He ANOINTED us; He SEALED us and He GAVE us the SPIRIT in our hearts as a pledge!
Each one of these promises need our amen! Every Christians life is pregnant with promises from God but they need our amen! For example:
John 3:16 ““For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
Philippians 1:6 “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
John 10:10 ““The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
John 4:14 “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”” We need to give this promise our AMEN!
Every PROMISE of God in Christ is YES but every PROMISE of God needs an AMEN from us!
We are God’s AMBASSADORS on earth, we represent HIM and He has delegated to us His AUTHORITY to use His POWER to advance His Kingdom on earth!
When we are living by God’s PROMISES, growing in our PILGRIMAGE and walking in God’s PRESENCE, God makes His appeal to the world to be RECONCILED to Him THROUGH US!
When we are living our Christian life in this way, God assigns angels to assist us in completing our assignments and fulfilling our destiny! But notice two things angels do:
Psalm 103:20 “Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!”
Angels perform God word by obeying God’s voice! Today I would like to utilize a passage of Scripture that might be familiar to many of us.
This story in the life of the disciples will reveal to us some principles Believing God’s YES by giving our AMEN!
Jesus invites the disciples to get into a boat and go with Him to the other side.
I. The DESTINY that is REVEALED to us needs our Amen Mark 4:35 “On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.”
There are times when God subtly reveals a portion of our destiny to us but if we do not affirm it by saying AMEN, we might not remember what our destiny includes at a crucial time in our journey with Jesus!
Notice that Jesus said to them, Let US go over to the other side!
Now if they had affirmed out loud that they were going with Jesus to the other side, I am convinced that angels would have accompanied them on their journey!
II. The DISASTER that is often PERCEIVED by us needs our Amen! Mark 4:36 “Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.”
There are seasons in our life when we must leave the crowds in order to be with Jesus!
In order to reach our destiny in this life, we must take Jesus as He is, not as religion says He is!
We must remember, there are other boats with Jesus too!
Mark 4:37 “And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.”
Now remember that Jesus had subtly revealed a portion of their destiny to them when He said to them, Let US go over to the other side, but while they were making this journey with Jesus, a fierce gale of wind (MEGA) wind or spirit manifest in opposition to them fulfilling their destiny!
And whenever we forget God’s Promises, fail to activate God’s Principles and lose awareness of God’s Presence in our life, the mind can play bad tricks on our hearts!
When these disciples SAW the waves coming over the boat SO MUCH that the boat was filling up with water, the disaster they perceived was that they were going to die at sea! They forgot about the Destiny God had spoken into them a short while earlier and now they are allowing panic and anxiety to override God’s Promises, Principles and Presence!
The DESTINY that is REVEALED to us needs our Amen, The DISASTER that is PERCEIVED by us needs our Amen and third . . .
III. The DISCOVERY that is MADE by us needs our Amen Mark 4:38 “Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
These disciples are being controlled by fear, panic and anxiety and when they can’t remember God’s Promise and they can’t remember God’s Principles they at least begin to look for God’s Presence.
And when they find God in their storm, they make an amazing discovery about Jesus they needed to make.
They discover that the storm that has caused them to forget God’s Promises and Principles and invite fear and anxiety to influence their lives to the point of panic and fear of dying, does not faze Jesus one bit!
They discover that Jesus operates from a dimension that they are not familiar with, Jesus is able to sleep during their crisis because the world Jesus operates from KNOWS—NO—STORMS!
The DESTINY that is REVEALED to us needs our Amen, The DISASTER that was PERCEIVED by us needs our Amen, The DISCOVERY that is MADE by us needs our Amen and fourth . . .
IV. The DEMONSTRATION that is GIVEN to us needs our Amen! Mark 4:39 “And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.”
Notice very carefully what Jesus does to the storm after they woke Him up while sleeping in their storm. Jesus got up and REBUKED the WIND and SAID to the SEA--HUSH,—BE STILL!
And what did the wind and the sea do? The wind died down and the sea became calm!
Jesus demonstrates the truth that there are times when we must audibly SPEAK to whatever is opposing God’s DESTINY for our LIVES!
Jesus did not PRAY, PANIC or call a committee meeting! Jesus is demonstrating for us what it means to live a Heaven on Earth Lifestyle that releases the power of Angels and or God into whatever is opposing God’s Promise, challenging God’s Principles or seeking to diminish God’s Presence in our life!
The DESTINY that is REVEALED to us, The DISASTER that is PERCEIVED by us needs our Amen, The DISCOVERY that is MADE by us needs our Amen, The DEMONSTRATION that was GIVEN to us needs our Amen and fifth . . .
V. The DECLARATION that is HEARD by us needs our Amen!
Mark 4:40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid?? Do you still have no faith?”
This is an astonishing truth to see and remember. Immediately after Jesus spoke to the wind and spoke to the sea and they obeyed the Voice of His Word, notice what your Bible says Jesus did, your Bible says that Jesus rebuked the disciples for not having any faith!
Now if this should happen in our day and time, if most evangelical followers of Jesus would have had their prayer answered, they would have been celebrated for being such mighty men and women of prayer because they get their prayers answered!
Do you realize that just because you get your prayers answered (Teacher, we are dying in this storm, do something to deliver us) it does not mean you are walking in faith!
Jesus answered their prayer, rebuked the wind and sea and they became calm and fear departed the boat too but Jesus did not applaud them, He rebuke them! It is possible to have your prayers answered but not really have much faith at all!
Jesus did not then and does not want us to become so dependent upon Prayer that we forget His Presence and our Permission to use His Power on earth!
Prayer is a wonderful thing, but I am convinced that many of us would rather pray about something than to do something!
Jesus models for us what it means to be seated with Christ in Heavenly places. Jesus released what He was aware of and so do we!
When God gives you a Promise that it is your Destiny to go to the other side, it is your assignment to announce the Kingdom of God is at hand and therefore Heal the Sick, Raise the Dead, Cleanse the Leper and Cast Out the Demons, we have the Authority to use His Power to Heal the Sick, Raise the Dead, Cleanse the Leper and Cast out the Demons!
Mark 4:41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
We are God’s Ambassadors, and He desires to make His appeal to a lost and dying world through us and Every Promise of God is YES but Needs an Amen from us!
And when we BELIEVE the Word and Assignment He has given us, Angels are assigned to Perform His Word and Obey His Voice!
They hear God’s Word but they are waiting to hear God’s Voice through you and or me too!
A. There are times when we must SPEAK the WORD audibly to activate the ANGELS!
B. There are times when we must speak TO the STORM audibly!
C. There are times when we must speak to the DEMONS audibly!
D. There are times when we must speak to the DISEASE audibly!
1. Jesus’ earthly ministry models for us what it means to be seated in heavenly places!
2. Jesus was able to sleep on the boat because the world He operated from knows no storms!
3. Answers to prayer are not always an indicator of spiritual maturity!
4. Jesus released what He possessed and so do we!
5. Our internal realities become our external realities! Why was Peter’s shadow able to heal people?
6. Every promise of God is YES but it is waiting for an AMEN to activate supernatural support!
7. Words we speak are powerful, especially when they are spirit because they become life!
8. Jesus can demand the impossible from us because nothing is impossible with God and for those who truly believe!
This is Day 8 of our 40 Days of Throne Room Encounters. I don’t know about you but I have been enjoying some Super-natural Sleep and beginning to recognize activity that originates from the throne room of Heaven!
On Friday, Day 6 of 40, after a wonderful night of deep sleep, my dad had what was supposed to be a rather routine spinal tap, as much as a spinal tap can be routine. The doctor wanted to see if she could eliminate the presence of Guillain Berret syndrome which could lead to total paralysis if not treated.
After the spinal tap was successfully completed, things began to get rather interesting for dad, my sister, First Lady and myself. Dad does not like to lay flat on his back, he has a portion of his diaphragm that is collapsed and it makes his breathing a challenge when lying down.
One of the things that is necessary after a spinal tap is to remain flat on your back for 4-8 hours. Well from the time dad left recovery all the way on his journey back to his room, he kept trying to raise his head to try and regulate his breathing. They kept assisting him and trying to calm him down and when he would try to raise his head they would push him back down.
They returned him to his room and left him with me, my sister and First Lady with instructions to help keep him calm and to make sure he does not raise his head up. He was beginning to panic, his breathing became labored, he had tears trickling out of his eyes, and I began praying with him and for him. His breathing was becoming more and more labored and I called for the nurse to come and see what was going on with him. In the meanwhile as I was praying over dad, he began praying. He prayed for me, for my sister Pam and for First Lady and then he began to pray in a Heavenly Language and then he cried out “She is Beautiful, She is so Beautiful while looking upwards beyond the ceiling. And then he turned blue, and then his body went limp. The nurses station called out through the intercom asking if everything is alright in there and I told her that he is in trouble you need to get someone in her STAT! The nurse that was in the room saw that Dad was gone and she called a Code Blue and then the Code Blue was issued over all speakers in the entire hospital. Code Blue room 237, Code Blue room 237!
Within moments nurses, doctors, administrators and chaplains convened upon dads room, 237. They brought the crash cart in, got on top of dad’s lifeless body, my sister was screaming “I can’t lose my dad today, I can’t lose my dad today.” First lady was crying, Pam was crying and I am trying to comfort each of them, all the while dad has flat lined. They worked on him in his room for a good 15-20 minutes and then the words were spoken, “He’s back, He’s back!” They immediately contacted the Cardiac Care Unit and said they needed a room made available STAT and they said bring him to C-13!
They rushed him past us and down the hall and into the elevators. They escorted us from room 237 to the Cardiac Care Unit and immediately a team of four doctors met us with a synopsis of what they were doing and trying to do for dad. They were putting him on a breathing machine, but he was fighting them with a strength they had never seen from an 83 year- old man. Eight adults were not able to subdue him and so they had to induce him into a coma. They did say, we have no idea how much damage might have occurred due to him being gone for as long as he was but their first goal was to get him on the breathing machine and to get him subdued and begin trying to assess heart and or neurological damage, but the encouraging thing to them neurologically was that he had so much strength and knew that he did not want any part of the breathing machine (smile).
This team of four doctors told us they would be back in about an hour to give us another update. Well that hour came and went and another hour came and went. I finally went and called the nurses station, and they apologized for not getting back to us and his nurse said they had just finished intubating him and they were changing his sheets and she would be out to talk with us in a few minutes. Well another hour and a half passed and no word from them and it was almost time for regular visiting hours to resume so I waited until the doors opened for regular CCU visiting hours and then was able to go in to see dad.
His nurse apologized again for not following up and coming to update us but after she hung up with me on the phone, within 20 seconds, dad had awakened from his coma, took his hand mittens and restraints off and ripped the breathing tube out of his mouth! They were certain that he would have vocal cord damage because the breathing tube is secured beyond the vocal chords with an inflated balloon system.
To their surprise, dad was able to talk with them and when they asked him why he pulled it out he said, “because I didn’t want it in there!” They tried to put it back in and he bit them on the finger and he said don’t put your finger in my mouth and it will not get bit! They were trying to talk him into letting them hook him back up and he said No, I will do anything you need me to do IF you do not put that tube back down my throat. So, they agreed to the deal with him and he was a model patient for them. With all they had given him to sleep, he finally went to sleep and occasionally he would wake up. He asked the nurse where he was and he was thinking Pam and me had put him in a nursing home (smile). They assured him he was not in a nursing home and that he was in CCU at Memorial Hospital. He asked the nurse if she did this kind of work all the time and she assured him that she did. He wanted to know if she was good at what she does and she assured him again that she and everyone back there were the best of the best!
So, he did not have a breathing tube all night and in the morning, he was able to eat some pudding and when they asked him about his throat and he said that he did not even have a sore throat!
By the time we were allowed to see him at 9:00 Saturday morning, he had already charmed his nurses and he quickly became their favorite.
I asked dad what if anything he remembered about the day before and he said he didn’t remember anything other than he “thought that he saw his wife, our mother.” That is what I thought he was seeing after he prayed in a Heavenly Language and began to say, “She is beautiful, she is beautiful!”
What did I learn about this part of the journey and the crisis we watched dad experience? Obviously I and we are still processing everything, but there was a point when dad’s panic and breathing was reaching a crisis point, when a dark presence overtook dad’s beautiful blue eyes and they turned dark and a taunting spirit stared at me. I immediately remembered the words of Jesus when He rebuked the wind and the sea. So I sensed the spirit of Python was choking dad and I used my permission to use God’s power and told the spirit of python to let his breathing go in the name of Jesus and that is when dad flat lined, his face turned blue and then the blue left his body and it became pale or ashen white and his body was limp.
Now an interesting point to include in this story is that yesterday morning (Friday), the day dad flat lined, I received a text from Michele Means at 7:36 in the morning. Her text said this, “As we were praying for your family this morning, the Lord gave me these verses for you and Marie (1 Kings 19:5-8).
He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, “Arise, eat.” Then he looked and behold there was at his head a bread cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. The angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise, eat because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food 40 days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God!
I don’t know about you, but this makes me want to shout WELL GLORY!
EVERY PROMISE OF GOD IS YES BUT NEEDS AN AMEN! Will you recommit yourself to 40 Days of Throne Room Encounters Today? I knew I would have throne room encounters, but I had no idea how close to the throne room we would go with my dad, close enough for him to get a glimpse of his wife our mom!
Today I believe many of us have something we need to speak directly to with Authority and Power!
Are you in a Storm? Will you speak to the Storm audibly today?
Do you need to speak to a Disease? Will you speak to the Disease?
Do you need to speak to a Demon? Will you speak to the Demon?
Has God given you a Word recently that seems Impossible? God gives you an Impossible assignment because with Him nothing is impossible to those who believe?
Will you speak the word out loud so that your angel can hear the word? He is under mandate from the throne room of God to Perform God’s Word and to OBEY the VOICE of His Word which is your voice!
