iconic duo game
how many of you guys have ever made a decision without asking for any advise.
like for the small stuff, the day to day stuff I’m usually good for the most part but theres often times I still look to pastor brittany for advise or at least an opinon.
but for the big things in life, like no joke life changing decisions I will always seek out good Godly counsel.
For me my entire life the person i could alway run to and i knew that the advise would be grounded in truth, experience, and the word was my gandfather.
so of you guys might have heard this story but i dunno
so years ago. Britt and I had been dating for honestly just little over a month. we started dating in the the summer and it was getting time for school to start back up. I had just been accepted to a musical theater school and I was excited to move back to NYC. Britt was getting ready to start school back up here and she really didn’t want to pursue a long distance relationship so home girl broke up with me.
she did!!!!!
to make a long story short when britt and I started dating I fell hard and I didn’t want to lose out on a chance of a great relationship with her and so the day before I was supposed to fly back to NYC i went and had lunch with my grandfather.
I told him what I was thinking. about how much I liked this girl and even though it sounded crazy to i thought I wanted to stay and see where it went.
and guys when it came to my love for music and acting and all that there was never a bigger supporter that my grandfather. he promoted me more than anyone and just wanted me to have every opportunity to focus on that and I’ll never forget what he said to me.
he said, bub, God’s at work every day in your life. if you want to go, go. you’re going to be great, but if you want to stay home then stay home because you’ll be great here too. and then he said and I quote “whatever you choose will be the right decision”
part of me was like thanks D Dad that didn’t really help but he was right.
God had control of the entire situation. No matter what i decided I fully believe because I chose to honor God by seeking wisdom that there wasnt any way I could chose wrong.
and I think you guys can obviously see what I chose.
but walking away from that dream taught me that as much as I loved the stage and the city that that dream wasnt the dream God had for me.
and let me tell you guys the lessons i learned from acting and performing for close to 20 years prepared me in so many ways for the life God has taken me on.
nothing ever went to waste and now the gifts and talents he gave me are used 100% for his glory and not my own and he’s blessed me with an amazing family he’s blessed me with an amazing job.
and over the last few years Ive had big decisions to make about my job as well. do I stay in the military, do i get out and come home full time, like what do I do?
and a year ago down at the altar on a sunday morning, i was actually playing guitar for worship and I felt it hard on my spirit to put the guitar down and go pray at the altar.
I was praying for wisdom, direction, for God to speak to me and tell me what to do. and I’m balling cause its a lot of pressure.
its not just me canceling a one way flight to NYC anymore.
I have huge responsibilities now.
Kenzie has skin care to buy like I need a good job but I’m way from my family all week.
like lord I need you to tell me what to do.
And at this time I kept feeling God tugging at me like I really started to feel the call to ministry but we were still kinda only doing this thing with you guys part time and I wasn’t really focused on it but I knew and felt god calling me
but yeah so I’m the altar praying praying praying, and all of a sudden Pastor Jason comes up behind me, puts his hand on my back and says “that i was called to be where he’s placed me” “for a time such as this” and then he said something else and I’ll never forget it he said “
“whatever you choose will be the right decision”
and I know this for a fact that that was God speaking to me.
Guys I want to tell you this morning that I know we all feel like we got it all figured out.
but the reality of it is that when we go off and do things on our own when we dont seek wisdom or guidance a lot of time we end up completely lost.
and if you don’t have that person in your life where you can seek Godly wisdom from please know that me britt all or our leaders we’re here for you guys. to listen to you, to offer what wisdom or experience we can.
turn your bibles to Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”
Guys God moves you and others in and out of relationships for a reason.
this is why it’s so important for us to invest our time with people who have the same eternal mindset as us.
what does that mean? it means we need to surround our self with friends who see the bigger picture, understands that because Jesus died for us we can have eternity in heaven and that Jesus wants us to live a holy life with purpose because friends that understand that to lead us to
