Faith that leads You- Lessons from the Life of Abraham-Pt1
Faith that leads You- Lessons from the Life of Abraham-Pt1
Abraham is the model of Faith
Abraham is the model of Faith
Circumcision was a sign that Abraham already had faith and that God had already accepted him and declared him to be righteous—even before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith but have not been circumcised. They are counted as righteous because of their faith. And Abraham is also the spiritual father of those who have been circumcised, but only if they have the same kind of faith Abraham had before he was circumcised.
Two Questions:
Why is Abraham our father in the Faith?
Faith is is a heritage- We don’t pickup at a random point as if there is no lineage
Abraham shows us what is looks like to believe in God
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Our Faith makes us part of a Great Heritage that traces its roots back to Abraham
Many People try to trace their roots back to whatever physical heritage they might be
For what purpose? so that they might get a little more in touch with the physical heritage
Start tracing back your spiritual heritage and see the Great men and Women who you stem from
See the great things that they accomplished- the great promises they received- AND KNOW YOU BELONG TO THAT HERITAGE!

ALL BECAUSE OF FAITH- IT BEGINS WITH ABRAHAM
2. Why Did Abraham respond to the call of God?
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.
-any response to the Word of the God is a response of Faith
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
When Abraham answered the call of God for His life, He answer the call of believing in the promise that God has given- believing that God would keep His Word
Paul shows the kind of Faith that Abraham had
So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.
Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”
Faith Holds to the Promises of God
Faith Holds to the Promises of God
Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb.
Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.
When we act we act knowing the promises of God-
When we give we give knowing the promises of God
When we step out and acts on the Word it is with the understand that the Word will not fail
We hold onto the promises of God!
Paul says, “Even when there was no reason to Hope, Abraham kept on Hoping.”
You need to understand everything that stood in the Way of Abraham
Time was not on His side- 100 years old- it had run out
His body wasn’t on His side
His wife’s womb stood in opposition to His faith
The entire circumstance made him look like a fool or crazy to hold onto the promise of God
BUT ABRAHAM HOPE AGAINST ALL HOPE- OR WHEN ALL HOPE WAS LOSS, ABRAHAM HOPED A LITTLE MORE
Faith and Hope go hand in hand
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Faith made Abraham’s Hope His reality
Faith makes the Word of God our reality
Faith makes the Word of God our reality
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.
It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.
Esv- Hebrews 11:11
By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
Sarah considered God faithful- This is the essence of Faith-
Do you consider God faithful to His promise?
Abraham is the father of those who consider God faithful to fulfill His promises
It was because of this He Acted in assurance that God would keep His Word
The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give back my people who were captured. But you may keep for yourself all the goods you have recovered.”
Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I solemnly swear to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you. Otherwise you might say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich.’ I will accept only what my young warriors have already eaten, and I request that you give a fair share of the goods to my allies—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre.”
There were no get rich quick schemes for Abraham- ONLY THE PROMISE OF GOD
THIS FAITH LEADS TO GOD MAKING A COVENANT THAT BEGINS WITH
Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”
Faith realizes the blessing of God
Faith realizes the blessing of God
In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God.
What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would make the Gentiles right in his sight because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.” So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.
All who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing
UNDERSTAND THE BLESSING IN ON THE PERSON OF GOD-
You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand.
THAT MEANS WHEN DAVID’S HAND TOUCHED THAT SLING IT BECAME BLESSED- AND IT PROSPERED
A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.
The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father.
When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham.
Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. “Go somewhere else,” he said, “for you have become too powerful for us.”
THE BLESSING OF GOD ISN’T A SEASON- IT REST ON HIS PEOPLE
Faith knows that The Righteous always Produce
Faith knows that The Righteous always Produce
Famines don’t stop the one who lives by faith
Kings don’t stop the ones who live by faith
Governmnets don’t stop the ones who live by faith
Physical limits don’t stop the ones who live by faith
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
Joseph prospered in every season of life
What was ment to be for His evil, Because God was at work, He turned it for God so He could elevate Him to the Highest position
God it turning so things for some people today!
Faith understands Endurance
Faith understands Endurance
Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.
This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For,
“Yet a little while,
and the coming one will come and will not delay;
but my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
How Long Did Joseph have to wait to receive the Promise of God that He was given in a dream?
How long did David wait for God’s promise, that He was already anointed for to come to Pass
This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.
For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
Faith understand the great potential of God within them

Abraham’s promise was to be a great nation
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
David’s Promise was to be the greatest King of Israel
Moses’ promise was to lead a nation out of slavery
The Apostle and Church was to preach the gospel all over this World
Revival Generation Church is to Shake NJ and New York with the Gospel
What is is in you you overwhelms what is in this World
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
