Robert’s Rules of Order

1️⃣ Call to Order

"Good evening, everyone. I’d like to call this business meeting of Cedar Bay Baptist Church to order. Thank you for being here and for caring about the life and direction of our church family."

2️⃣ Opening Prayer

"Before we begin, let’s open in a word of prayer." (Pause and pray.) "Amen."

3️⃣ Approval of Minutes

"At this time, I’d like to direct your attention to the minutes from our last business meeting. Please take a moment to review them." (Allow a moment for review.) "Are there any corrections or additions to these minutes?" (Pause for any corrections. If none:) "Hearing none, the minutes will stand approved as submitted."

4️⃣ Ministry Reports

"We’ll now move on to ministry updates and reports."

"Are there any updates to report for our ministries?" (Allow for the leader to share. Thank them when finished.)

5️⃣ Financial Report

"At this time, I will turn it over to Brother Jerry, who will present our financial report. Brother Jerry, you have the floor."

6️⃣ Returning to the Floor

(After Brother Jerry finishes) "Thank you, Brother Jerry, for that report. Are there any questions regarding the financial report?" (Pause for any discussion. If action is needed — e.g., adopting a budget — you may guide a motion to approve.)

7️⃣ New Business (If Any)

"Is there any new business to bring before the church at this time?" (Allow time for members to share. Handle any motions according to Robert’s Rules: motion, second, discussion, vote.)

8️⃣ Motion to Adjourn

"If there is no further business, I will entertain a motion to adjourn this meeting." (Wait for a motion and a second.) "It has been moved and seconded that we adjourn. All in favor, say ‘Aye.’" "All opposed, same sign." "The motion carries. This meeting is now adjourned."

9️⃣ Closing Prayer

"Let’s close in prayer together." (Pray to close.) "Amen. Thank you all for your time, your prayers, and your service to our church family."
