Introduction - We have come to the last day of Pleasure Island Bible Camp. It has been such a good week and we have enjoyed being here with you all.
I pray that you have understood the main thrust of the camp theme for this year, “I’ve Enlisted, Have you?”
The theme verse, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8
We are praying as the Lord commanded for labourers for His harvest field.
All this week, we have tried to show you from the Word of God the same truth, and that is that the Lord has a plan for you. He has something for you to do— and have you made the decision to yield to Him?
On this last day, I would like for us to look in 2 Timothy chapter 2.
In this chapter, Paul speaks to Timothy about being a good Soldier of Jesus Christ.
The truth is, that if you are saved, if you have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, You are not your own.
You have been brought with the blood of Christ. Paul in speaking to the Christians in Corinth stated, “20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20
Lets read here in 2 Timothy 2 beginning in verse 1, as we look espescially at one particular phrase found in verses 7.
2 Timothy 2:1–7 “1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
Let’s Pray
As we finish up this tremendous week, I thought it would be needful for us to look in this passage in 2 Timothy. I want us pay particular attention to the phrase that Paul uses under inspiration of the Holy Ghost where He states,
“Consider what I say…”
The messages that have been given to you straight out of the Word of God- have been spoken in truth and in love three times a day.
You’ve received every morning right here some great truth from the Word of God.
You’ve received every morning for the service time some wonderful truth from our veteran missionary Mrs. Betsy Resnor.
You have further recieved tremendous messages from a handful of pastors who have preached the Word of God to you.
Now—- what are you to do with these notes that you have written down. This truth that is in your heart. These memories that the Holy Spirit of God brings to your rememberance, we want you to consider what the Lord has said…
In other words, we do not want you to walk away from this place and not consider the Word of God.
In fact when you go back home, and yoy begin to get back into a regular schedule. And when you meet again with your local church—- it would do you well to listen carefully just as you have this week and consider what you have learned.
In other words, it is a wonderful thing for you and I to think about what I learned.
I would like to give you four points as we finish this final day— keeping in mind this phrase “Consider what I say…”
The first point is this:

I. Rely Upon The Lord

“…be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” vs. 1
Paul is writing to His Son in the faith, Timothy, and He reminds Him to be strong—- but notice what He says, in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Pastor Earl if you will remember taught you concerning putting on the armor of God from Ephesians 6.
In that passage — in verse 10, we read, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:1)
Oh my young friends, the Lord has all the strength you need. Can I encourage you to rely upon the Lord?

II. Remember What You Have Heard

… the things that thou hast heard…” vs. 2
Its interesting that you and I can remember everything else under the sun, but we immediately forget the truth of God’s Word… Why is that?
I would say most often because our heart is focused on something else.
Matthew 6:21 “21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Your treasure is what you care about. Your treasure is what you cherish. Your treasure is what you have concern for.
The Bible tells us that if we are child of God, if we are born again, then the love of Christ should constrain us. (2 Corinthians 5:14)
Will you make the effort to remember what you have heard?
Will you open up these notes, and review these passages and remember what the Lord has taught you?

III. Repeat What You Have Learned

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” vs. 2
What you have received of the Lord this week, God expects you to give to someone else.
What you have had the privilege of learning someone else needs to hear.
Here is the question, what are you going to do with what the Lord has given to you?
Friend, can I tell you, that I am endeavouring by God’s grace and help to do everything I can to take the Word of God that has been given and taught to me and give it to someone else.
The Bible tells us in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ our works do follow us…
I wonder how much is going to follow us when the Lord calls us home.
My grandfather use to say this —- if you stick your hand in a bicket of water the hole that is left is what people will remember about you.
You know that is a terrible way to view your life here on this earth.
You ought to take what God has given to you and give is to someone else
You know it might be a good thing for you to take these camp books and sit down mom or dad or both and open up your Bible and repeat to them what you have learned.

IV. Rest In or Return To God’s Plan For You

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life;…” vs. 4
Listen one of the biggest difficulties we encounter is this matter of being distracted by the things of the world. Paul makes a point to tell Timothy look don’t be tied up by the things of this world.
Last of all, I would like to exhort you consider what I say…
