Discussion Questions:

According to John 3:16, what happens to someone who does not believe in Jesus to save them from their sins? - they perish, or die and are separated from God forever in hell

Who is the only One that can forgive our sins? - Jesus

Who needs forgiveness from their sins? - everyone!

Introduction: So far, friends, we’ve considered seen that God out of His great love sent Jesus to save us from our sins.

But, you might be thinking, can’t I just be good enough?

Ephesians 2:8–9 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Friends, there’s not enough good things that you can do to earn salvation!

You can’t be nice enough to your siblings/parents.

You can’t earn enough good grades.

You can’t walk enough old ladies across the street!

You see friends, even if we did a lot of good deeds - it doesn’t erase our sins that we’ve committed!

That’s why we need forgiveness, like our song reminds us and we talked about last night.

Only Jesus offers forgiveness.

Friends, this is where God’s grace comes in.

You see, God’s grace does for us what we cannot do.

In this case, God is the only One Who can save us from what our sin deserves - to be forever separated from Him in hell.

Conclusion: Friends, there’s nothing that you can do to be good enough to receive God’s salvation - He offers it freely to everyone who believes, which we’re going to talk about tomorrow night!
