You Were Made For This!

Open Question #1: Have you ever felt like you weren’t good enough or ready to do something big!

The Bible Meets Life

Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper job for supposedly lacking “imagination”.
JK Rowling the Arthur of the Harry Potter books had manuscripts that were denied by publisher several times.
Coloniel Sanders [Kentucky fried Chicken owner] was rejected by over 1,000 resturants before someone accepted his secret recipe.
Michael Jordon was cut from his high school basketball team because his coach said that he wasn’t good enough.
All of these individuals have something in common; they all faced someone telling them they weren’t good enough. They all faced rejection for attempting to live out their goals/dreams.
Question: Have you allowed the no’s that have been said to you convince you that you’re not made for greater than your present! Have you been convinced that you are smaller than who and how God has made you?

The Main Point: You are not hear just to Exist! You were made For More so that you Can Do More!!!

I want to take a few minutes to pour into you all personally because I truly believe that every single one of you here right now was created do more than you think you were created to do!
The conflict is that we sometimes don’t think this and that is in direct opposition with the what God says about you!

What does the Bible Say?

Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

The Main Discussion

Point One: We are God’s Workmanship [Monday]

Listen to what Paul writes; he says that we are the Lord’s workmanship. What does it mean to be the workmanship of God? Think of it like God is creating a sculpture; we are the marble that he takes his tools to in order to shape and mold us to be what he envisions for us to be.
But to keep it simply simple and to the point: God made us we didn’t make ourselves. And being that he is the one who created us we should have full confidence through obedience to his calling.
Our problem: We spend to much time investing the years of our lives in the opinions of others who opinion don’t even matter.
Yes, I care about what others think in connection me representing Jesus so as to not bring shame to name, but I do not care what people opinions are about what he has called me to do.
The Solution: Start believing what God says about you. And that starts with reading, believing, and quoting the scriptures on a regular daily basis. And here are two scriptures that you can quote when someone has a low opinion about you or better yet when you start to have a low opinion of yourself:
I will praise you, for I am fearfully and Wonderfully Made!- Psalms 139:14
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light- 1 Peter 2:9
Reflection Point: Trust the Word of God over the opinion of man so you can do more!
The reason we can say that we are made for more is because the Lord has created us personally and it is by his words that he speaks life into us! He doesn’t have low opinion about us. We just have to tape in by faith.
Invitation: Take a few seconds to whisper to God and yourself the low opinions you have about yourself. And after you whisper those things to God let the next thing I want you to whisper to God is “I believe who you say I am and you have said that I am a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of your own possession. I thank you for calling me out the darkness and into your marvelous light.. you created me for more to do more”.

Quick Recap:

Our Scripture was: Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Our Main Point: We are not here to just exist! We were made for more to do more
God is chiseling at us to mold us and to shape us into who how he invisions us. He desires to create us with a intention and purpose
Our problem: We spend to much time investing the years of our lives living up the low minded opinion of what others think about us
In other the words: the word is also chiseling at you but they intend to break, crack, and destroy you. [God wants to mold us into something the world wants to break us into nothing]

Point two: Created in Christ Jesus for Good Works; WE WERE CREATED TO BE USEFULL NOT USELESS! [Wednesday]

Think back to our example of God molding us like a sculpture. The difference, however, is that the average sculpture is created to be looked at and admired. But, God molded and shaped us to not only be present but to be active and engaging with our world. You were not created to be inactive but to be active!
Bible Meets Life: When I go into the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter I’m buying a wand why? First because I want one on period. But also it will allow me to interactive with the theme park. They built these theme parks not to just be admired but to be experienced! God isn’t molding you just so you can sit around in life but he is molding you so that you can experience life in and through Him!
No one creates a house to not be lived in. A car is designed to be driven not to be looked at on the show room floor. A phone is meant to be used not left in the box. And if God created you and has poured his words that bring life into you then you are not useless.
Our problem: WE are just present and not active. We’ve allowed fear of failure to keep us in the box and on the show room floor. We’ve allowed fear of our pears laughing at us for walking with God to keep us trapped in the box they’ve built for you.
Fear is the number one killer of dreams. And Should of Could of Would is the conversation in the graveyard of ideas!
Listen, there are people in your corner that see the potential that God has placed in you. But your fears have made you a sculpture to be looked at and admired. But the thing about sculptures is that over time their color fade, their parts chip away, and even major features are broken off. And it could be the same with you:
Your color will fade- that’s your excitement for life and exploring
Parts of you will chip away- slowly but surely the small things that made you distinct will begin to chip away
and lastly major features which is your god given Identity will fall to the side because the elements of life and this world has not consumed you!
The Solution: Trust in the Spirit of God that dwells in you to give you the courage, the strength, the wisdom, and the resources to step outside your fears and into God’s purpose for you!
And yes we got some scriptures for you to quote whenever fear starts to show it’s ugly face:
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.- 2 Timothy 1:7
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?- Psalm 56:3-4
Reflection Point: Put God’s Word Into Action so you can do more!
We can start doing more when we our faith in God becomes the courage and strength we rely on!

Conclusion & Prayer

“…created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”- Ephesians 2:10
There is one more thing all of the people I mentioned at the start of this devo have in common. Yes, they all were told no several times. Yes, they all were rejected several times. But the main thing they all have in common is that they didn’t let the rejections stop them. They didn’t allow the low opinion of someone dictate their lives.
If you truly believe that you were created by God for more so you can do more then the low minded opinions and rejections should only be a hurdle to jump over. The fear we have should be small moment and not a movie.
Why are we here today at this theme park? Because someone trusted God years ago and now today that person is doing good works which was already prepared by God before this person even knew it. They realized they were created for more so that they can do more!
So please enjoy this week. Have a great time. Because contrary to what some might think it’s fun being a christian! But know that the blessing we are enjoying today is because someone said yes to a God who already planned for them to do good works.
The Invitation: Will you say yes to God so that he can give you more so you can do more!
Let us Pray.
