Overview: Paul is Timothy’s mentor. Timothy is sent out to Ephesus to put things in order since the previous leaders had poor theology. Timothy early on was to handle the poor teachings that had been occuring. What a tough job for a young guy roughly 30-35 years old!
The amount of issues that Timothy was commissioned to address was beyond anything you or I would enjoy tackling. False teaching, members treating church like a fashion show, and so on.
Preperation in Leadership:
Have a mentor
Don’t allow your physical or Spiritual youthfulness get in the way
Walk as we should walk.-
A) Conduct
B) Love
C) Spirit
D) Faith
E) Purity
Give attention to reading- perhaps Scripture out loud. Give attention to exhortation, and doctrine.
Do not neglect or overlook, or diminish the gift you have been given.
