Lust

Introduction

What is Lust

Lust:  to have an intense desire or need (Usually but not limited to Sexually in nature)

things to understand about Lust

Lust is more than a sexual desire ( greed, authority, pride)

Lust will take the character of God from you

Lust stands as a foundation for other sins to be take apart of.

What do we do about Lust?

Galatians 5:16–17 ESV

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

Our Relationship with God must held to a Godly Standard not a Religious standard.

Our gratification is not always going to be in the cards for us as believers

Mark 8:34–35 ESV

34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.

Lust is the sin with the purpose to tear Christians from fellowship with like minded believers

2 Timothy 3:2–5 ESV

2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
