Love
God’s Love For Us
An absolute statement that everyone should understand is: God most certainly loves us
What if someone asks you, “How do you know that God loves you?”
God created us and He created us in His image (Genesis 1:27)
Not only did He create us but He sustains us
Acts 14:16-17
Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
Do you thank God for every day that He gives you?
Do you thank God when it rains?
Do you remember to thank God before every meal that He provides you?
Do you remember that every good gift comes from above? (James 1:17)
God has offered us a plan of redemption through His Son
Christ died for us and we are now justified through His blood Romans 5:8-9
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Transition: We know God loves us because He created us, He sustains us, and He has provided a plan of redemption through His Son, through His body, through the church of Christ.
When trying to understand the love of God an appropriate response is How do we respond to the Love of God.
Our Response to the Love of God
This answer is found in Mark 12:28–30
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
We cannot love the Lord with all our heart, soul, or strength if we do not love the Lord with our mind.
People are able to discern an individuals love for something based on their understanding.
What if someone asked, “Ethan, what is your favorite book in the Bible?”
Ethan how do I become a Christian?
What if I didn’t know any books of the Bible?
What if I didn’t know how an individual becomes a Christian?
If I was not able to give a defense for the hope that is within me would you be able to tell that I love God or His word
Jesus was out ultimate example and by His actions, by His accounts, are we able to determine whether He loved the word of God?
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Jesus answered evil by using scripture, He said IT IS WRITTEN, quoting Deut 8:3
Again the devil tried to tempt Him
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is
written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
It is written Deut 6:16

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Jesus is demonstrating His love for scripture, and giving us an example on how to refute the evil doctrines of man and temptations of evil, quoting Deut 6:13
This is why it says
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
When people ask us of a reason for the hope that is in us are you going to give an answer? Are people going to be able to discern your love for God based on understanding? We do not want to be the people Paul writes about in Romans 10:2 Who have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge.
Romans 1:22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,”
Our faith must be according to knowledge and truth.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
If you DO NOT continue in the Word then you are NOT His disciples indeed
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Make sure people can ascertain your love for God. While we are at camp, while we study make sure you are making the best use of your time and your blessing from God to be here and learn His truth unadulterated
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
