The Lost Sheep Parable

Bible Passage: Lk 15:4–7

Summary: In the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus illustrates God's unwavering love and pursuit for each individual, showing that no one is too far gone to be sought after and brought back home.

1. The Pursuit of the Shepherd

Lk 15:4–5

Jesus paints this beautiful picture of an active pursuit of a shepherd after this one sheep

Leaving the 99 for the pursuit of the one.

This shows this strength of God’s love for us.

We have comfort in knowing that we were pursued whenever we drift away from him.

2. The Shepherd's Joy

Lk 15:6

Once the shepherd finds the sheep alone and lost it joyfully swoops it up and puts it on his shoulder and takes it home.

The shepherd’s joy of finding its lost sheep shows the value God has in each and every one of us. Not just the ones that are already found and living righteous, but even the ones that drift away he sees value in them as well.

Such a strong value that he has joy!

3. Heaven's Resounding Rejoicing

Lk 15:7

There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.

Man how different of a world would it be if we had this mindset about evangelism.

If were seeking out those people that are lost.

The people that have strayed away.

Not just staying around people we are comfortable with. BUT SEEKING THE LOST

Not writing someone off as “too lost”

Tell the story of Brittan praying for him

Then tell the story of alex adauto

God doesn’t need your judgement on who should hear about Jesus, he needs your faith and discipline to step out of your comfort zone and share with them who Jesus is.

TAKE A MINUTE, SPREAD OUT, THINK ABOUT WHERE YOURE AT OR A LOST PERSON AND PRAY FOR THEM, PRAY FOR FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
