Exodus 33:12-14

“Seek His Face, Not Just His Hand”

Takeway #1: You are here for a purpose. Embrace it. (v.12a)

You were created for a purpose, God has good things for you to do. 

Revealed will vs. Secret will for your lives

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.” 

Takeway #2: You are needy beyond belief. Accept it. (v. 12b)

“I know you’ve done all these things for me, but I just need more from you.”

Read the Psalms. Huge outpouring of need. 

Your soul is not a tranquil lake, and Christianity is trying to return to an inner peace. 

Your soul is 2 open arms, desperate for something to latch onto and worship. 

Takeway #3: You need God Himself, not just His help. Don’t forget it. 

4 Things That Reveal You Just Want God’s Stuff:

I am so guilty of all these (I’m sure none of you are…)

Your prayers are only request-based —> Selfishness

When God meets your needs, you get distracted —> Busyness 

When God doesn’t answer a prayer like you want Him to, you stop talking to Him —> Bitterness

Worship, prayer, time in the Word, Gathering in community feels boring or optional —> Apathy. 

Takeway #4: You are easily offendable. Reject it.

Takeway #5: You can be face-to-face with God. Rejoice in it.
