The Ten Lepers
The Ten Lepers
11 While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
12 As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
13 and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed.
15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?
18 “Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”
19 And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.”
Here we have a story of 10 lepers. Now leprosy is not a enjoyable disease to have because its a skin disease. Its bacteria on your skin. Leprosy is very contagious and so they couldn’t be around people. Theses Ten lepers come to Jesus probably heard the things that Jesus had done and they keep their distance but ask Jesus to heal them. Jesus, tells them go see the high priests, which was full filling the law
2 “This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing. Now he shall be brought to the priest,
As they were leaving without even touching them Jesus healed and cleansed them. Remember they are considered unclean. As they were leaving one man realized that he was healed and went back to Jesus thanking Him and praising Him. This even goes deeper because he was a Samaritan and the Jews didn’t get along with them. Jesus asks what happened to the other 9, only this foreigner came back. Jesus says that this Samaritan faith made him well and he went on his way.

You
Jesus
A. Jesus had mercy
In our story Jesus was merciful to the lepers, Jesus does things that we can’t completely understand but he cleansed those 10 lepers. He could of not done so, he could of been like most of us and avoided them but through His power He showed them mercy
In the same way Jesus is merciful to us.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
We make mistakes and maybe wrong choices but God or Christ is merciful when we ask for forgiveness.
God or Christ is merciful when we go in prayer and ask for guidance, safety, help, and more when God answers our prayers and even before we ask He is merciful to us.
B. Jesus Cleanses
Jesus, cleansed the 10 lepers and they became clean again. Only Jesus could cleans them from there disease.
Just like Jesus could only clean them, only Jesus can cleans us.
5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
Jesus cleansed all of us when died on the cross. When Jesus died his blood washed all of sins and we got rid of the impurities in our life and we were made new again just like those lepers. This only done because we went to Jesus and followed Him
7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Jesus is the only way to be cleansed and spotless.
C. Jesus loves all people
Christ loves all people and you see this because he helps a foe. This man that was healed and came back was a Samaritan some who the jews were not fond of, but Jesus looked past his nationality, race, and even gender to care for this man.
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
God so loved the world, not just one group but everyone here on earth. God loves everyone because he created everyone, so Christ or God loves all people especially the ones who come to Him.
2. The 10 Lepers
A. The Leaper were unclean
These 10 leper were unclean, they had a skin disease they were considered unclean. In the same way our sins make us unclean
6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
20 And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.
21 “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,
22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness.
23 “All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.”
Our sin makes us unclean but do we realize that we are unclean. I know it easy when you have a disease to know that you are unclean but the sins we commit can’t makes us feel good do they? People have to realize that the things they do are not wholesome right? We are unclean people spiritually and we need to go to Jesus and be cleansed
B. One Came back to God
The Samaritan man was the only person to come back and thank Jesus for healing him. He was grateful and gave glory to God.
All I could think is do we go to God and praise Him and thank Him for the good things He has done for us?
Did we go to God and thank Him for forgiving our sins, for seeing the truth, or even having mercy on us.
Do we thank Him for the little things He does in our lives
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
We need to be like the one leper and turn back to God and give Him thanks and praise.
C. His faith made him well
The Samaritan leper got the biggest compliment from Jesus and that is your faith has made you well. In many stories with Jesus there is many times were Jesus told someone that their faith has made them well, like the woman who believed that if she could just touch a piece of Jesus cloths she would be healed.
In the same way our faith made us well because we might not have physical healing even though God can work that way but we have a spiritual healing. Our faith can be strong enough that we can pray to move a mountain and it would be moved, implying that if we have faith our obstacles can be moved. Our faith can make us well, if believe in Him and He will reward us
22 And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God.
23 “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
24 “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
3. You
A. Do we Acknowledge God when answers
I’ve brought out the idea that we should do these do these things but are we doing these things. Are we going to acknowledge God when He answers prayers.
1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
God is very loving and kind to us and we wouldn’t do it another human would we? If someone blessed us would we just ignore them and not tell them how much we appreciate them? No, we would thank them and be grateful and we should do the same to God.
B. Do We Give God the Glory
Are you giving God the glory in your life? Are you praising Him? God is so wonderful and He deserves all the credit and praise and yet we push Him to the side and give glory to what we accomplished. Without God we wouldn’t be able to accomplish the things we do.
24 “The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
Give glory to God, remember what Jesus said
32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.
33 “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
Give God the glory everyday
C. Has your Faith Made You Well?
If Christ came back today, not to be the end of time but to be here on earth would say your faith has made you well? Would he be disappointed and say why we have so little faith. Is it well with our soul! Or do have things to work on and get closer to God. Lets strive to be strong people of faith
