Rev. 14:6-13
Rev. 14:6-13
Introduction: God has not called His angels to step forward and deliver the gospel. His commission is that which God ordained and He is revealing more of His will to this wicked world. God is changing the way He delivers the gospel, God has used man in the past to preach the gospel, even 144K. The angels did not understand the gospel as we know it.
“Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desireto look into.” I Peter 1:11-12
Now God is going to use the angels to communicate the everlasting gospel and to deliver messages of judgment.
I. Proclamation concerning the gospel vv. 6-7
A. Its nature v.6a
1. The word gospel means the grace of God for salvation-the good news.
2. No person has the right to change the gospel or he will be accursed
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preachany other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so sayI now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:8-9
3. The gospel here refers to the kingdom of Christ which is eternal in its significance.
4. Everlasting because it has to do with eternal dividends.
B. Its universality v.6b
1. The angel is to preach it to all that dwell on the earth.
2. The angels have watched how often we have wasted priceless opportunities to share the gospel, how many times we have hid our light under the bushel, and we spent more of our efforts on the world than on the eternal.
3. Now the angels are allowed to do their bidding and they are flying to do the job.
4. They want everyone to hear and know the gospel of the kingdom.
C. Its content v. 7
1. Fear God-in the middle of all nations hearing fear the Beast, follow the Beast, now the nations hear follow Christ.
2. Man will still have a choice in his salvation and have an opportunity to receive the message.
“ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is
understanding.” Prov. 9:10
3. Fearing God is a conviction and conversion means we give glory to God.
4. As we are consecrated, we worship Him that made heaven and earth.
II. Proclamation concerning Babylon v. 8
A. Revelation of judgment
1. This is a complete collapse of the political, economic and religious system of the Beast.
2. This is being sounded as a warning to those who are living on the earth at that time-warning to us to not trust in uncertain riches here in this world.
3. Babylon is the name of this world religious system that is mentioned in Rev. 17-18.
B. Reason for judgment
1. Because of her influence for evil.
2. Because of her corruption
3. Because of her leadership.
III. Proclamation concerning the Beast vv. 9-12
A. The doom of the Beast’s followers vv. 9-11
1. Those who follow the beast are going to be judged by an angry God.
2. The message is urgent, blunt, short, and clear.
3. There is no hope for the followers of the Beast.
4. This is a clear description of the torments of hell.
5. Place of fire, torment, and no rest.
B. The destiny of the Beast’s defectors v. 12
1. They will endure because they are sealed by God and He will strengthen them.
2. They will be overcome all this by the blood of the Lamb.
3. There will be a reward-rest from all the labors.
4. Troubles will be over.
Conclusion: God uses the angels to proclaim the gospel. He judges the sin of the people and protects His people.
