A. The Marvel of the Ages - What’s had our attention for hundreds of years.
the god of the their age - 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV) 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Romans 11:8 (NIV) 8 as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.”
Galatians 1:3–4 (NIV) 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
the god of our age - Proverbs 16:18 (NIV) “18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
the idols of age - 1 John 5:21 (NIV) “21 Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.”
Every time an age ends it’s because the idols have run their course, they can’t deliver what they promised the enemy must regroup in a different age.
Psalm 31:6 (NIV) 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the LORD.
Psalm 115:4–8 (NIV) 4 But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. 5 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. 6 They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. 7 They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. 8 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
The idols or our age, our politics, our inventions, our technological progress. And we become as worthless as our false worship.
B. The Toppling of the Ages - not one stone will be left on another.
70 AD - History and Prophecy -
The End of our Age - 1 Corinthians 1:19–20 (NIV) 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” 20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
