Choose Your Team
“So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone. But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”
Main Idea: Before you run the race, you have to decide who you're running for.
Key Themes:
Commitment: "Choose this day whom you will serve."
Identity: Are you on God's side or the world’s?
Foundation: Every purposeful step begins with the right allegiance.
Points:
You Can’t Play for Both Teams – (v.14) God calls for full devotion.
The Choice is Yours – (v.15a) You’re responsible for who you serve.
Lead with Purpose – (v.15b) Joshua leads his household with conviction.
Challenge: Who’s team are you on — God’s or the world’s? Make your commitment clear.
