Introduction

When I stood before you on Easter Sunday and delivered the Word of God. God told me that Word was not the end of it. The Word of God was about the Anointed one, Jesus Christ, and the significance of his death and his body being anointed for the cross and after his death. Today, I stand before you again to continue the Word that he had given me to share with you.
To anoint means:
to smear, anoint, spread a liquid, to smear; to anoint (as consecration); to anoint, consecrate, to be anointed
Many individuals in the Bible from beginning to end, was chosen and anointed by God for the fulfillment of his Word. We see in the book of Genesis that God told Moses to anoint Aaron to be priest and minister unto the Lord. Saul was anointed by God by the Prophet Samuel to be the first King of Israel and David came after when God removed his anointing from him because of his self-glory and disobedience in 1 Samuel 16:14 “But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.” - Saul did not leave his position until many years later. You can be in a position without the anointing, so many stay in positions that they are no longer called to. As God has taken the anointing from Saul, David was chosen to take the throne. David a man of God’s own heart. He was not perfect but he was a repentive man who had a relationship with God. David’s kingship was a foreshadowing type that represent the unification of all of the nations.

Point 1: When you are Chosen, you are called to lead

David’s kingship over all of Israel and the calling of the leaders together signifies the unification of the tribes and this is a foreshadowing of how Christ would unify his people.
David reminded us:
Psalm 133:1–2 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, That ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments;”
God’s Promise to David
1 Chronicles 22:6–10 “Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the Lord God of Israel. And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.”
When you are called to lead, God will place you in places and spaces, and move in the authority he had placed in you.
He will place you amongst of likeness.
When Samuel anointed Saul, to confirm his anointing he was led to a group of prophets, the scriptures said that the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied.
Ask individuals to come to show an example.
The Holy Spirit empowers individuals for God's purposes. Just as Saul was enabled to prophesy, believers today are empowered by the Spirit to fulfill God's calling in their lives. It also foreshadows the New Testament outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2), where believers are similarly empowered for ministry.

Private Promotion for Public Declaration

The enemy cannot stop God’s promises. David expressed that the decision to choose Solomon was not out if his own will, but it was the will of God by stating that He (God) has chosen Solomon.
In 1 Kings we hear about how Solomon was anointed to be king after David heard that his older son was trying to take the throne from under him. Solomon was a young boy and not knowing anything and how to be king.
God does the qualifying even if we do not feel like we are not ready.

Chosen to do a Certain Work

David had a heart and mind to build the temple but the was not his calling. He was a man of war and has shed blood and God needed a place of rest and he petition Solomon to be the one. 1 Chronicles 22:9–10 “Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.”
It was meant for David to build the temple. What if he would have disobey God and did it anyways?
Operating without the Holy Spirit.
Example: Issac-Rebecca, Jacob- Rachel, and Joseph and how they exhibit faith to believe God’s promise would be fulfilled even if they did not live to see it.

The Weight of the Anointed (verses 7-12)

What will it cost to continue in the walk in the anointing of the Lord? It comes with a price!
To publicly anoint someone, the olive oil is used. Have you ever considered the process it takes for the olive to become olive oil.
1. Harvesting: Olives are picked, either by hand or with machinery, when they are ripe. 2. Cleaning & Washing:The harvested olives are cleaned to remove leaves, twigs, and other debris. They are then washed to remove dirt and any potential pesticides.
3. Crushing:The olives are crushed into a paste. This can be done using various methods like hammer mills or malaxers.
4. Malaxation:The olive paste is gently warmed and mixed (malaxed) to allow the small oil droplets to coalesce into larger ones.
5. Extraction:This is the process of separating the oil from the rest of the olive paste. There are several methods used, including:
Centrifugation: The olive paste is spun at high speeds in a centrifuge, separating the oil from the solids and water.
Pressure: In older methods, pressure is applied to the paste to extract the oil.
6. Separation and Filtration:The extracted oil may undergo further separation to remove any remaining water or solids. Filtration can be used to refine the oil further, although some producers prefer to leave it unfiltered for a more rustic flavor.
God’s promises and conditions (return to scripture)
Quote
“It is enough to know I am only called to obedience, to see with clear eyes of faith that the harvest will come later.”
There is a mandate to carry out the plans.
Solomon inherited the plans of building the temple.
When a person is anointed, it is a divine consecration to an office and it is God’s recognition of an individual and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit for accomplishing the God-appointed job. At times, this appointment can be weighty if we try to do it on our own. It can be weighty because of what it is required of you.
2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;”
1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

David charge and encouraged Solomon

David’s charge to Solomon to serve God with a loyal heart and willing mind, stressing the importance of seeking God diligently. This point suggests the foundational qualities needed to accomplish God’s purposes. It emphasizes the importance of having a Christ-centered calling to pursue God wholeheartedly, just as Christ exemplified obedience to the Father. Foster a sincere dedication to God.
v. 9- Jeremiah 17:10 “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
Romans 12:1–3 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Psalm 51 “To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, And done this evil in thy sight: That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, And be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; And…”
