I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness—the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone. And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”

12 जब दिन ढलने पर आया तब बारहों प्रेरितों ने मसीह येशु के पास आ कर उन्हें सुझाव दिया, “भीड़ को विदा कर दीजिए कि वे पास के गाँवों में जा कर अपने ठहरने और भोजन की व्यवस्था कर सकें क्योंकि यह सुनसान जगह है.”

13 इस पर मसीह येशु ने उनसे कहा, “तुम्हीं करो इनके भोजन की व्यवस्था!”

उन्होंने इसके उत्तर में कहा, “हमारे पास तो केवल पाँच रोटियां तथा दो मछलियां ही हैं; हाँ, यदि हम जा कर इन सबके लिए भोजन मोल ले आएँ तो यह सम्भव है.” 14 इस भीड़ में पुरुष ही लगभग पाँच हज़ार थे.

मसीह येशु ने शिष्यों को आदेश दिया, “इन्हें लगभग पचास-पचास के झुण्ड़ में बैठा दो.” 15 शिष्यों ने उन सबको भोजन के लिए बैठा दिया. 16 पाँचों रोटियां तथा दोनों मछलियां अपने हाथ में ले कर मसीह येशु ने स्वर्ग की ओर दृष्टि करते हुए उनके लिए परमेश्वर को धन्यवाद किया तथा उन्हें तोड़-तोड़ कर शिष्यों को देते गए कि वे लोगों में इनको बाँटते जाएँ. 17 सब ने भरपेट खाया. शिष्यों ने तोड़ी हुई रोटियों तथा मछलियों के टुकड़े इकट्ठा किए, जिनसे बारह टोकरे भर गए.
