The Second Coming of Jesus
Revelation 19:11-21

Timeline of events

Church age.
We can look to Revelation 2-3
These 7 seven churches can represent different time (age) of the church.
These 7 churches can also represent the different type of churches in the church age.
The Rapture
The rapture is an eschatological event in which Christians will rise into the sky to join Christ as he returns to earth.
Judgement Seat of Christ
Where Christians will be judged for their deeds both good and bad.
The marriage supper of the Lamb.
A glorious event where the church and Christ are wed and a long celebration.
Set up to the coming of Christ.

The Great Tribulation

A world of chaos.
Prior to the return of Jesus Christ there will be worldwide hostility generated by Satan and demons and wicked men, as well as worldwide hostilities generated by God Himself as He pours out His wrath.
Satan will use things like the Antichrist and the False prophet.
Demons will be released to overrun the earth.
People will become more and more wicked as the tribulation drags on.
The people will become more rebellious, harder and resistant to the gospel.
The gospel will be preached like it never has been.
A great battle
Satan and all his host increase their hostilities again God’s people, God’s angels, God’s plan and God’s purposes.
The forces of heaven and the forces of hell will meet in final fury.
This battle will be against all the nations of the world and will be called Armageddon.
The beast or the Antichrist who marches in hostility with the power of Satan against God and His anointed.
Revelation 19:19 ESV
And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.
Revelation 16:16 NLT
And the demonic spirits gathered all the rulers and their armies to a place with the Hebrew name Armageddon.

Setting the Stage

The great victory.
We have victory in Jesus now.
But we will have the ultimate victory in this final battle.
We live in the Kingdom of God, but it is not fully realized.
We are strangers in a foreign land.
But God’s rule will reign on the earth in this final showdown.
His everlasting Kingdom will come into full bloom.
Hell on earth.
Imagine millions of demons being let loose on the earth.
They have been held in chains.
Along with the rest of mankind great armies are assembled
This final battle takes place in the valley of

Megiddo.

The armies will stretch into the south past Jerusalem
The mountain take stands over this is Mt Carmel

The Antichrist gathers his armies.
Revelation 16:13 ESV
And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs.
Revelation 16:14 ESV
For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.

The earth groans

Genesis 3:15 (ESV) — 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Genesis 3:15 ESV
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden all the earth has been groaning for this event.
If you have ever seen a lion attack it’s prey. It’s brutal.
In the New Kingdom the loin lays with the lamb.
Romans 8:19–23 NLT
For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.
We will be release from this sin and suffering.
This is longing of every believer.

The Warrior King

Jesus foretold this.
Matthew 24:27–31 (NLT) — 27 For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. 28Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near. 29“Immediately after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
Matthew 24:27–31 NLT
For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near. “Immediately after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.
Again, this is the fulfillment of all biblical prophecy.
Imagine being John the Apostle and seeing this unfold before your eyes.

Heaven Opens

John sees this incredible vision.
A white horse is standing there.
Its name is Faithful and True. (11)
Flaming eyes
Wearing a crown
Unlike the crown of thrones
Robe dipped in blood
Another name/title “Word of God” (13)
Given the title King of Kings – Lord of Lords (16)

The Horse

The Lamb of that vision has become the conquering, King.
This is not the humble Jesus riding into Jerusalem riding on a donkey.
The white horse is a reference to Roman generals returning home from victory.
White also symbolizes the spotless, unblemished, absolutely holy character of the Rider.
The horse, like the crowns (v. 12), the sharp sword (v. 15), the rod of iron (v. 15), and the wine press (v. 15) is symbolic; Christ’s coming is reality. The symbolic language represents various aspects of that reality—Christ’s victory over His enemies, His sovereign rule, and His judgment of sinners.
