Quickly review purpose
Our time in here will be connected to our evening session
Learn to study the Bible on your own
it would be wrong of me to ask you to join in the fight for the legacy that has been passed down if we do not give you the tools to do so
give you space to practice it while as I go
What is step one - Summary (make them repeat it)
Step two - Expose
Expose -
make (something) visible by uncovering it,
reveal the true, objectionable nature of (someone or something):
same way that the Bible will reveal sin in our lives
Step three - Change
Change -
make (someone or something) different; alter or modify:
Isaiah 55:8–9 CSB
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. 9 “For as heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Write your summary
Summary - God does not operate and think like humans. He is far greater than me in every way.
Write what sin this might expose in you -
you will not have to share with anyone
Expose - Many times I believe I know best for me and other things in the world. So I demand that God does things How I want them done, or he must explain all things to me.
Write what changes need to be made
lets be specific,
write what changes or steps that you will make due to the sin that you are seeing in your life
do not be vague
“I will trust God more” -
Change - Read a Psalm each day so that I can praise God more. The more that I praise him and see his glory, the more I will trust him.
Teaching on the passage if we have time
what certainty do you need for something before you believe and trust
do you need 100% certainty
Me repelling down a mountain when I am scared of heights
There are things that we do not know about God
what we need to know if there is something that you have to know about him before you believe
do you have to know everything about him before you submit to him
in our passage tonight, there is a verse about a prophecy that we do not have in our bible
Why would God use something like this
his ways are not our ways
why would God love the unlovable
his thoughts are not our thoughts
I am thankful for that, because I am one of those unlovable people
