Jesus was delivered to death to pay for our sins so that through His resurrection God could declare us righteous through faith.

God‘s Promised Redemption Comes Through Faith (Rom. 4:13-15)

++Trust in keeping of the Law voids faith
++Trust in keeping the Law invalidates God’s promise
++God’s promise is fulfilled through faith
The Law raises awareness of our violation and deserved sentence, but God’s promise is fulfilled through faith.
The ultimate purpose of the law was to drive men to faith in Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the demands of the law on behalf of sinners who trust in His righteousness instead of their own.
John F. MacArthur

Faith in God Comes According to Grace (Rom. 4:16-17)

++The Law demands MERIT but Grace demands NOTHING but accepting by faith
++The Law demands LIMITS but Grace demands NOTHING but open access to all
++The Law demands HUMAN POWER but Grace accepts GOD’S POWER
The keeping of the Law puts the focus and responsibility on our shoulders, but Grace accepts God as the source of our faith.
Every gospel imperative is full of the divine power of grace to effect what it demands. If it counted on even the least power in the sinner it would never secure the least effect.
Richard Charles Henry Lenski (American Lutheran Pastor)

God’s Grace is Available to All Who Believe (Rom. 4:18-25)

++When there is no hope, put your hope in God who keeps His promise (v. 18)
++When there is no possible way, put your hope in God who keeps His promise (v. 19)
++When you see God’s promise you can trust it as if it has already been fulfilled (vv. 20-21)
++When you trust God’s promise He credits His own righteousness to your account (vv. 22-24)
Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected so that we might be declared righteous
Simply put, God is glorified when you trust Him. He’s glorified when you believe Him. And He is glorified when you hope in His future promise. The God who has given you such a great salvation is worthy of your hope.
John F. MacArthur
What God has promised, He is Able to Do (Rom. 4:21)
