CONNECTING WITH GOD

Matthew 6:13 ESV
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
I. IDENTIFY WHAT MAKES ME VULNERABLE
Matthew 26:41 ESV
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
WHEN?
WHERE?
WHO?
WHAT?
HOW?
II. MAKE A PLAN TO AVOID IT
Proverbs 4:26–27 ESV
Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
III. GUARD MY HEART
Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
IV. PRAY FOR DELIVERANCE
Psalm 50:15 ESV
and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Hebrews 4:15–16 NLT
This High Priest (JESUS) of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
V. TURN MY ATTENTION ELSEWHERE
Psalm 119:6 CEV
Thinking about your commands will keep me from doing some foolish thing.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NCV
We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.
Romans 12:21 GW
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil with good.
VI. GET A GROUP OR A PARTNER
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 GNB
Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him.
