1 John (2) | Fellowship (1 John 1:5-7)

The Characteristics of Fellowship (vs.5)

Fellowship - Companionship, mutual association of persons on equal and friendly terms, Association, joint interest, a state of being together, Communion.
If God is light and we want to have fellowship with him, we must have an interest in things that are light.
John 1:4–9 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
John 3:19–21 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
On Mt. Transfiguration Luke 9:29 “And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.”
Glistering - to shine brightly and intensely; used specifically of lightning.
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
I cannot have fellowship with the Lord if I do not have an association with the things that are light. I cannot have fellowship with God unless we are on equal, friendly terms.

You must walk in the light.
