Do you believe in the Resurrection?
I would like to offer a bit of Cultural Context
The Greeks did not believe in the resurrection of the dead.
When Paul preached the resurrection at Athens, some of the people actually laughed at this doctrine (
It was this kind of thinking that Paul had to deal with when he wrote this chapter.
Do you believe in the Resurrection
WHY?
You have a few choices
i believe
I don’t believe
or i am not sure
I don’t think there is another option
you are in, out, or somewhere in between
I love the analogy of walking in to a Super Store
there are a set of sliding doors, then a foyer, and then another set of doors
Unbelievers walk to the door, decide to walk in and then hang in the foyer for years, never venturing in to the
actual store.
These Corinthians were doing the same a many Christians today
the said their prayer, walked to the tank, and then hang in the foyer
There is a stage of exploration in Christianity where many will venture in and get a few things and then leave again
Too many walk in and out but live in the foyer Until THEY FINALLY GET IT
I want you to GET IT.
I want you to KNOW what is in the store, realize that the price is PAID IN FULL for everything in there
You have the Freedom
I want you to discover the secret
that you can live in there, you can chose to spend your whole life in the bountiful store house of the LOVE OF JESUS

Paul starts our message this morning with a Bold statement
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,
2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
Hold FAST
HOLD ON
Your LIFE IN HEAVEN DEPENDS ON THAT
HOLD ON
Listen to the Gospel this morning
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,
4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.
7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
Christ died for YOU
HEAR ME CHRISTIAN
CHRIST DIED FOR YOU
But that is NOT THE ONLY POINT is IT
WE know that CHRIST DIED
We know that ALL man DIE
We read in the Scripture that we was BURIED
BUT....
RESURRECTION
RESURRECTION
Jesus rose again
3 days later HE WAS ALIVE AGAIN
HE WAS NOT REVIVED
HE WAS RESURRECTED
He walked the EARTH for 40 days
He appeared to over 500 people
So that ALL WOULD BE COMPLETED
THis is the GOSPEL, the GOOD NEWS
You are saved by the GOSPEL
and your SALVATION
has
an “ALREADY and NOT YET” quality to it
Salvation is your with BELIEVING
Romans 8:38–39 “38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Santification ( BECOMING) is a process
it requires you to BE IN CHRIST DAILY
to continue to BELIEVE
and to GROW IN YOUR BELIEF
This process assures your belief is GENUINE
VALIDATION
VALIDATION
that is a process that we often forget
Jesus knew the HEART OF MAN
JESUS knows your heart today
They would not simply believe by hearing it
they would need WITNESSES to IT
You don’t have to tell me that you are SAVED
I should be able to SEE it
JESUS completed the Prophesy of ISAIAH…
the Prophesy of the OLD TESTAMENT
by DYING for HUMANITY
ALL MAN DIE
BUT JESUS ROSE AGAIN
and because HE KNOWS THE HEART
HE APPEARED TO 500
so that they would TELL OTHERS THE GOOD NEWS
WE NEED TO BE THOSE WITNESSES TODAY
does that sound familar
JESUS appeared to YOU AND ME
We believed, and now we tell others
and we BECOME, so that OTHERS will BECOME
....mature in CHRIST
some may believe in the last seconds of life and go to HEAVEN
the majority of US are called to be on this earth
FOR OUR TIME, and HIS PURPOSE
32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
which lead to thousands becoming CHRISTIAN
DID THEY ALL WALK THROUGH BOTH DOORS?
thousands walked through
hundreds of those dispersed through persecution to SHARE THE GOSPEL TO OTHER PARTS OF THE EARTH
I will take a little LIBERTY THIS MORNING WITH ME ANALOGY EARLIER
Walking in the DOOR is BELIEF
Hanging in the FOYER IS NORMAL
BUT BECOMING ———————MEANS YOU WALKED THROUGH BOTH DOORS
You are starting to set up residence in your APARTMENT in this world
It is NOT yours —- HE PROVIDES
we need to be CHRISTIANS
We need to live in the Storehouse
WE NEED TO take trips to the Foyer to GROW OTHERS
We need to GO OUT INTO THAT SCARY WORLD
and INVITE THEM IN
We are called to GO share the GOOD NEWS
and then TEACH THEM THE WAY of RIGHTEOUSNESS
that is LIVING IN THE STOREHOUSE — no longer of the WORLD
INVITE THEM IN THE FIRST DOOR
and ENCOURAGE ALL THROUGH THE SECOND
Who is to BELIEVE?
ALL
Who is to BECOME
ALL WHO BELIEVE
LOOK today you will run into
DISCIPLES —— LEARNER
THEY are sitting with you know
BUT APOSTLES —- they are ALL in HEAVEN
the original DISCIPLES became APOSTLES
they were taught directly be CHRIST
PAUL on that road to MET THE CHRIST
was taught by CHRIST
and was the LAST APOSTLE to BECOME
JOHN the LAST APOSTLE TO ENTER HEAVEN
PAUL HEARD THE TRUTH
PAUL WALKED THROUGH THE FIRST DOOR
PAUL WALKED THROUGH THE SECOND
And matured to be a TEACHER of RIGHTEOUSNESS
YOU CAN SEE IN VERSES 9-10
the realization, the humility and the DIRECTION of PAUL
“...but the GRACE OF GOD what was with me..”
PAUL knew and TAUGHT others
that the RESURRECTION is the KEY
DEATH HAPPENS
RESURRECTION is for BELIEVERS
WE GO TO HEAVEN TO BE WITH CHRIST
OUR MISSION

To tell others, and sometimes use WORDS
I don’t know why the Corinthians were denying the resurrection
maybe because the entry into the FIRST DOOR
was pronounced as the COMPLETE STEP
Maybe it was the GREEK belief that DEATH WAS FINAL
you understand that i was not always SAVED
but from a young child my GRANDMOTHERS taught me that HEAVEN EXISTED
it started as a GOOD BOY or BAD BOY scenario
not completely BIBLICAL
BUT I HEARD EARLY that there was a LIFE AFTER THIS LIFE
But the Greeks would have been taught that DEATH WAS FINAL
ATHEIST’s are preaching that today
LIFE YOUR BEST LIFE< NOW
for there maybe no tomorrow
SAD
I love the TRUTH
DO MY BEST TODAY, for HEAVEN HAS A PLACE FOR ME
Conclusion
The Resurrection has to be REAL
With out the Resurrection all that was taught would be invalid
We are born of our mother
REBorn of the Spirit
and then follow CHRIST
we DIE to this world
and in a blink are RESURRECTED IN HEAVEN
ALIVE AGAIN in HEAVEN
Our HOPE IS REAL
OUR HOPE IS JESUS
and
OUR HOPE is ALIVE
