Exodus 34:6-7, Exodus 14:5-18

Intro: Who I am, Quick Story, Thank Pastor G + Neosha, recognize the church.
Pray = Let’s believe that through this message the Lord is going to remind, restore and release all of us to be generational chain breakers.
Quick synopsis of past talks in the collection:

Sin Travels... But It Doesn't Have to Stay

Main Point: Sin has generational consequences. But those generational patterns don’t have to have the final word.
“Unfortunately sin travels...”Yes, spiritual DNA is a real thing—just like we pass on physical traits, we can pass on patterns of pride, addiction, abuse, secrecy, or shame.
But theres hope those traveling evils don’t get the last say. They can cease they can be stopped. Broken even more so Redeemed.
We will be taking a look at Exodus 34:6-7 today but,
Before we jump into today scriputres we’re going to take a look back at the people God is talking to and about. So we can begin to understand how we aren’t so much different than they were. Read Exodus 14:5-18
Quick Story: First time wife and I went on a cruise, she was so excited to be doing something new, bought outfits for each day, new sun glasses, even started working out months in advance she was prepared for this trip. Until we got on the boat and once the excitement of the newness phased she realized the boat rocked back and fourth. And she didn’t like it, she wanted to go home. The reason the people of Israel struggled to cross into the realm of generational chain breaking territory is because they had motion sickness.
They had been stuck for over 400 years had for gotten what it felt like to move! they began to see the curse as the cure, How do I kow? Ex 14:11. We got motion sickness why are you making us move!
Some of you in a season where the Lord has called you to move and friends and family have decided to latch on to you and the road had gotten difficult pharaoh is on your heels and now they want to turn back. If you are going to be chain breaker meaning, deciding to do someting different than everyone you know. Making the decision to follow Jesus whole heartedly and put all of your trust and faith in him. Tell everyone on the journey to keep some Dramamine because you not letting motion sickness stop you from Glory.
Look what God says in Ex 14:15, If you don’t want different just keep doing what you’re doing, (definition of insanity) but if you want to see change! Stop crying out MOVE ON.
Todays text: Ex 34:6-7
A recent study out of Johns Hopkins reminds us that our workforce—and by extension, our culture—is made up of four generations: Baby Boomers, GenX Millennials, and Gen Z. Each generation was raised in very different worlds. That means the values, traumas, and habits we carry are not random—they're passed down. Some are good. Others, not so much. The Bible actually speaks to this long before any study did."

Point #1 Generational Chains Are Real — But So Is Responsibility

TextExodus 34:6–7, Ezekiel 18:20
In Exodus, God acknowledges that sin has ripple effects across generations—not as punishment, but as a consequence.
In Ezekiel 18, God makes it clear: each person is responsible. No one is doomed.
Truth: Patterns are powerful, but they're not permanent.
Application: Identify the chains in your family line—addiction, anger, silence, fear, poverty, abuse. Naming it is the first step to breaking it.

Point # 2 You can’t begin to break chains if you do not first know his name.

TextJohn 8:36, Acts 4:12, Philippians 2:9–10, Exodus 3:13–14
SO IF THE SON SETS YOU FREE!!
In Exodus 3, when Moses asked God what His name was, God replied, "I AM." — a name revealing power, presence, and personhood.
In the New Testament, we learn that the name above all names is Jesus.
In Acts 4:12, we’re reminded: only one name brings salvation—and with salvation comes the power to break every chain.
Truth: You can’t break spiritual battle chains without a spiritual relationship. Power comes from proximity to the Name.

Point #3 The Shift Begins with a Simple Decision

Main Point: Breaking chains starts with a choice: repentance—a turning away, and a turning toward God. In Matt 4:17 in the beginning of Jesus ministry before there were any miracles performed and signs and wonders he begins to proclaim that all people make a shift.
Repentance isn’t meant to be a regret—but a reorientation."The change has been offered—we now just have to reach out and grab it."
You can say goodbye to yesterday. You’re not stuck. You’re stepping into a new harvest. And your breaking chains doing it.

Point #4: The New New Starts With You!

TextJudges 2:10 — “And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord...”
This verse reveals a tragic reality: it’s possible for one generation’s silence or compromise to result in another generation’s spiritual amnesia.
But the opposite is also true—one generation’s obedience can spark revival.
Generational impact goes both ways. Just as cycles of brokenness can be passed down, so can legacies of faith, healing, and wholeness.
“You might not be responsible for what was handed to you—but you are responsible for what flows through you. Or to put it in another way it may not be your fault but it is now your problem”
APPLICATION:
Embrace your role as the transitional generation.
Start new patterns: pray openly, forgive freely, give generously, speak life.
Raise your kids—and your community—to know the Lord by how you live, not just what you say.
The “new new” doesn’t start with culture or church trends—it starts with you.

Close out story Silver Refining: Malachi 3:3

A group of women studying this passage stopped to consider what it means that God “sits as a refiner and purifier.” They decided to learn more about the refining process of silver. One woman visited a silversmith and watched as he held a piece of silver over the fire. The silversmith explained that silver must be held in the middle of the fire where the flames are hottest to burn away all impurities. She asked, “Do you sit while the silver is being refined?” “Yes,” the silversmith replied. “I must sit and watch the entire time. If I leave it in the fire a moment too long, the silver will be destroyed.” Then she asked, “How do you know when it’s fully refined?” He smiled and said, “That’s easy. When I can see my image in it.”
Closing: "Some of you are in a generational fire right now—pressures, pruning, painful growth—but you must remember this: God is not burning you, He's refining you. He hasn't abandoned you in the months, weeks or even years in the heat. He's sitting with you, watching carefully, purifying intentionally. Because when the refining is done, His image will be visible in you and through you. That’s how legacies change. That’s how generational chains break. That’s how the 'New New' starts, with fire, yes, but more importantly with the faithful hand of the Refiner."
