Foolish planning
Parable of building on sand

Big Idea: Plan in hope. Don’t ignore what God is doing.

Scoffers overlook God’s story

Prophecy as Foreshadowing
Lord of the Rings
With no foreshadowing, you are left with a future based on what I can make. Formation of desire
By mocking (overlooking as not weighting things properly)
By overlooking God’s past story, You can debate many things philosophically, you can (to an extent) make the data say anything you want. There are still real things that have happened.
Judgment has happened and will happen. This should color how we view our lives and our futures.
Running as looking forward to
By ignoring God’s prophesied story, I weight my life totally differently.

Don’t overlook God’s timing on His goal

Time is different with God
God’s slowness is patience for the goal of repentance
God’s care is shown by His patience.
God’s judgment will come like a thief
The physical world will be destroyed but also the works on it will be exposed
Hell is hard. Never justice is harder.
Hypocrisy is always a temptation for religious people.
We are called to acknowledge our sin not pretend it’s not there.

Wait for God’s day by pursuing righteousness

There are certain people you shouldn’t listen to.
Consider God’s word through the light of redemption
Don’t get carried away by error
Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus
Adoniram Judson and Jacob Eames

Be diligent to grow in love.
