BOBBY BOBBY BOBBY
There are a lot of strong guys found in the Bible, can you name some of them?
Well you want to know who I want to help me carry that load is Jesus.
Matthew 11:28–30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
You know I so want Jesus to carry my burdens and to take all my cares. I want him to take the burden that I have and help me through it.
Jesus can do that because He is the Mighty God
Actually and pay attention this might help you out later. Jesus is El Gibbor that is the name of God that means Mighty God. Can you say that with me El GIBBOR good job. But Jesus isn’t the first Mighty person in the Bible. Can you guess who the first Mighty Person in the Bible is?
Good Guess but his name is actually NIMROD!!!!
Genesis 10:8–9 Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.
The word Mighty means physically strong and valliant but I don’t think that Nimrod was a good guy really. His kingdom built the tower of Babel when he got his people together and said we will build a tower to heaven. He sounded a like the devil when he said God I will rise up and take your place I am these people mighty man their champion. Nimrod’s temple never made it to heaven as a matter of fact God confused the languages at Babel. I think of guys like Goliath, a mighty man who in his arrogance came tumbling down. NO in the Bible Mighty Men get a bad reputation even Samson the great and mighty samson in all his might and power. The guy picked up the gates of the city and carried them to the top of a hill and fought off an army with the jawbone of a donkey. I’d like to see Bobby fight off all you will a chicken wing. Give him some long hair blowing in the breeze but NO that isn’t God’s champion.
Let me introduce you to El Gibbor.
Deuteronomy 10:17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.
God is our El Gibbor El means God Do we have any Daniels here or elishas your name has God included in it, El Gibbor which means mighty. In this passage God is reminding Israel that He is the mighty God he has just told his children Israel that they were going to enter the promised land after 40 years wandering around in the desert they were afraid to go into the promised land because their were wicked mighty men their the Bible describes them as giants and they were but God is the Mighty God the one who is strong in battle.
They are too strong, we can’t do it.
Numbers 13:28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.
But God is El Gibbor (MIGHTY POWERFUL)
Psalm 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.
But I don’t want you to get too hung up on picturing this great big GIANT OF A GOD like Bobby. No my hero My God when I picture him I don’t picture Bobby I think of the greatest Mighty one to ever live I think of Jesus but I don’t picture Mighty Jesus as some buff dude
Jesus is my Mighty God
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Has anyone here ever heard that verse before. When did you hear it? Christmas and what do we talk about at Christmas time the important thing about Christmas and I am not talking about Santa Clause YES BABY JESUS!!!
HE is the mighty God He is the one who shoulders are big enough to carry the weight of the world on His back. Actually that last verse the King of Glory Mighty in battle that was talking about Jesus too. He is the real mighty God. Remember Nimrod. He was a fake. The devil will always try to tell you that he will help you but he isn’t. I have watched time and again. People are like this will help you. and they can’t really help you.
God is able to help you when you need Him the most.
Psalm 69:1–3 Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, Where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.
There is a story in the Bible of the prophet Jeremiah and he was thrown in a dungeon not prison a dungeon. But not any dungeon he was thrown into a pit he didn’t even have enough room to sit. He describes the mire sludge under his feet. You want to know what me and a lot of other people think he was in. THE SEWER. God send Ebed Molech. Wierd name I would rather God send me my good buddy Bob and he lowered a rope down and Jeremiah had to put it under his arms here like this and Ebed Molech and his buddies had to pull him out of the mire He had to have God save him.
John often recounted falling into a tank of water. As an elderly man injured from the fall, he felt too weak to escape and feared he wouldn't survive. Terrified, he struggled until he cried out to the LORD for strength. He later often credited God for saving him.
You may not have fallen into quicksand or a tank of water, but you might feel stuck in the pits of despair. Overwhelmed by life, persecuted at work, or facing physical pain—God knows your struggles. Like David in the Psalms, Jeremiah in the prison of Jerusalem, or Peter on Galilee's seas, cry out to Him. God will answer your prayers and aid you. He will lift you from the mirey clay onto solid rock of your Salvation Jesus Christ.
God doesn’t just save you from bullies.
Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
Remember all those things I was talking about at the beginning God can save you from all those things and more. He is mighty to handle your power, and guess what he doesn’t want you carrying around a load of wood, He wants to load you with other things
Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the LORD, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation!
At camp, we used a lot of firewood. Each fall and winter, boys helped gather it from the surrounding woods. Their competitive spirit led them to try carrying the largest load to the tractor, often asking for more wood when their friends watched.
The Psalmist tells us that the LORD daily loads us with benefits beyond what we can handle. People often fail to reach out to the Savior for His abundant blessings. As followers of Jesus Christ, we should approach Him daily just like those teenage boys, eager for His blessings. We should come to Him with open arms, looking for one more benefit, knowing they are endless.
