INTRODUCTION

HAve you ever experienced an earthquake?

Share how you felt in 1994 when you felt the Northridge Earthquake.

It doesn’t matter how strong the building is, or how calm the morning feels—when the ground starts to move beneath your feet, your first instinct is to find something stable to hold on to.

That’s exactly what it feels like in the world right now.

We’ve watched entire governments collapse overnight. We’ve lived through global pandemics, economic instability, wildfires, wars, and waves of fear. Every system that once seemed secure—education, health care, finance, politics—is being shaken.

And maybe, if you’re honest, you’ve felt some shaking in your own life too.

Relationships strained. Mental battles intensified. Dreams delayed or derailed.

The question isn’t if shaking will come—the question is: Will you be standing when it’s over?

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12 that God is allowing a divine shaking—not to destroy us, but to remove what is temporary, what is false, and what is unstable… so that only what is eternal will remain.

Jesus doesn’t just want to calm the storm around you—He wants to strengthen what’s inside you.

This morning, we’re not here to panic—we’re here to prepare. We’re not here to just talk about the shaking—we’re here to find what cannot be shaken.

Because God is not just shaking the nations… He’s also waking the Church.

I. God Is Shaking the World on Purpose

Hebrews 12:26–27 “At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.”

A. Shaking is not chaos—it is divine choreography

God shakes kingdoms, economies, and systems to expose false foundations.

Everything built on sand must fall so that only truth remains.

B. The purpose of shaking is separation

Wheat from tares, sheep from goats, true from false.

The counterfeit cannot survive divine shaking.

C. Application:

Don’t fear the shaking—discern it.

Ask God, “What in me is shakable that You want to remove?”

“What God is shaking in the world—He may first be shaking in you.”

II. Signs of Global Shaking Are Increasing

Matthew 24:7–8 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

A. Natural disasters and pandemics are not random

Earth groans under sin.

Romans 8:22 “For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”

2. Plagues, wars, and upheaval are birth pains, not freak accidents.

B. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear…”

Luke 21:26 “people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

Anxiety and fear are prophetic symptoms of a world in distress.

Mental and emotional breakdowns are evidence of spiritual shaking.

C. Application:

Don’t be afraid of the signs. Realize these are leading to something greater.

“If you don’t have an anchor, every shaking will feel like the end. But for the believer, it’s the beginning of glory.”

III. The Kingdom of God Cannot Be Shaken

Hebrews 12:28 “Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,”

A. Everything around us will be tested—but not everything will remain

God’s Word, His Church, and His Kingdom stand forever.

When the shaking ends, the Kingdom will still be standing.

B. The Church must shift from comfort to Kingdom

Kingdom people don’t panic—they prepare.

We don’t run from the fire—we shine through it.

C. Application:

Build your life on the unshakable: Scripture, worship, prayer, obedience.

Cultivate gratitude—it stabilizes your soul in instability.

D. Tension Statement:

“The storm will reveal what you’ve built your life on—sand or stone.”

IV. God Is Using the Shaking to Refine His People

Haggai 2:6–7 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts.”

A. The Church is being purified for glory

Shaking removes impurities and awakens urgency.

The shaking is not to destroy the Church—it’s to revive it.

B. The coming glory will be greater than the former

What follows the shaking is outpouring and revival.

God is preparing His people for a final harvest.

C. Application:

Embrace personal refinement—ask God to purify you.

Step into your role as a voice of stability and truth in chaos.

“God is not trying to scare His Church—He’s trying to sanctify it.”

Conclusion: Stand Firm in the Final Hour

When everything is shaking, only the unshakable will remain.

Anchor your faith to the Word. Let go of what God is shaking out.

Ask the Spirit to burn away compromise and build you unmovable.

“God, shake everything in me that’s not of You—until all that’s left is Jesus.”
