Expirement time!!!!! Hurray Right

I have to tell you. I am a high school physics and Chemistry teacher so sometimes I like to do Expirements so I have a simple one for you to do today.

This is the kind of expirement that you can go home and do with your mom and she won’t get mad at you. Do I have any science nerds here!!!!

Ok I have two glasses of ice water here

And what I want you to do is to put some drops of this food coloring in it.

What happens Yes it sinks or probably the better word is diffusion

But But But it doesn’t diffuse in the second Why?

Density is mass in ratio to volume and one of these glasses is more dense than the other and the more dense one is holding the food coloring in place

What’s the secret. Well what if I said one is ocean water and one is fresh water.

That’s right it’s salt. Salt is the secret.

The density of water is 1000 kg per meter cubed and 1025 kg per meter cubed in salt water big difference that means that if I had a fish tank and filled it with both the salt water and fresh they would both weigh a lot and you couldn’t notice a difference in either one but the salt water would weigh 55 pounds more than the fresh.

So today I want to talk to you about the David from the Bible’s secret to inner strength!

Would you look at the top of the the Psalm that you have in front of you this morning. I am used to seeing the phrase psalm of David, but in this passage we see the phrase Michtam of David. You may wonder what that means. The truth is that modern scholars aren’t really sure what it means, but it was important in David’s day. In doing my research I came up with three possibilities to the word, one being writing, another being golden writing like an engraving on something special. Like if the rest of psalms are good, this is a billboard topper like david’s gold or platnium album if he was a rock star. You know I love our gospel music guys and they come down and always give us their acolades like this guy one the deepest base in the old bayou grand old opre’ readers choice award four years straight. At that point I’m like, I don’t care all I care about is do you sing about Jesus, are you real, and does your music sound good. The last being from the etymology of the word especially the verb associated with the second half of the word. Which means cover or secret. It is a word like found in the mercy seat which was the cover of the ark of the covenant.

I don’t care which of those you chose, engraving, golden, or secret you chose to associate with this Psalm it all fits. Take the psalm and engrave it in your heart, let it be as precious as gold, and let it be the secret to your success. That is what I title today’s message David’s Golden secret to real success.

Preservation is founded on trust.

Psalm 16:1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.

We need to place ourselves in the trust of God.

Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Trust in God because He cares for you and the best place for you to be is in the arms of Jesus Christ he will preserve you and get the most out of you. Today if I still had an expensive baseball card I would sell it at a garage sale but a master can get the most out of it, and Jesus who is in the process of sanctify you will keep you to until the day of Jesus Christ (the day of Jesus Christ is the Rapture).

God is so good.

Psalm 16:2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

All good things come from God.

James 1:16–17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

All my life you have been faithful all my life you have been so so good, with every breath that I am breathing I will sing of the goodness of God.

People say because bad things happen in this world and God is all powerful that He believes that either God is not all powerful or not good. They don’t know the story of the Scriptures God is Good, it is because of our sin that bad things happen. But God works all things even the mess for the God of God’s people every good comes from God.

What are going to focus on our mess or His Good! David choses God’s goodness

Don’t get it backwards to pretend that we are good and God is behind the mess

All my life you have been faithful.

Believers appreciate God’s people.

Psalm 16:3 As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”

Do you love God’s people? God’s people aren’t always loveable, true. But for the most part genuine followers of Jesus Christ are the best people in the world. They sacrifice for the good of others, they love Jesus and do good for Him they bear the fruit of the Spirit. The problem often is wolves in sheeps clothing. Imposters and Hypocrites who are a black eye on the Christian community.

Idolatry multiplies sorrows.

Psalm 16:4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.

This world is a tough place to live and if you don’t have God on your side the good and faithful God it is only going to get more difficult. When you have other God’s above Him things are only going to get more difficult. When you put things before God it isn’t going to get easy. Money is an idol and whne it comes before God it isn’t going to make your life easier. Sexual desire the pill the bottle The job whatever it is when it becomes more important than God it isn’t worth it.

There is no help from false gods.

1 Kings 18:27–29 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

false gods have nothing to offer this is so evident from the story of Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal and don’t forget about the 400 prophets of Asheroth. They cried all day but no one was there to answer and give them nothing good.

God is my inheritance.

Psalm 16:5–6 O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.

The Golden secret to joy. Put God first Trust Him Appreciate God’s people, put nothing before God! God is my inheritance not a get rich quick scheme but God is our inheritance the blessing comes for David just from being a part of the family of God.

Joint Heirs with Jesus.

Romans 8:15–17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Your inheritance is being apart of the family of God. The Father is our Abba Father! The Spirit who dwells in us is the golden secret to peace that we are eternally joint heirs with Jesus the King of the Glory!

The golden secret to joy! All good things come from God! We trust God and God only letting all else fall to the way side. Our inheritance is God! Not the world but Jesus and the Spirit! This doesn’t mean that everything will be perfect Remember if anyone in the word of God had probelms David had problems more than I can list here but He tackled them all with the Joy of God! Dancing before the LORD!

David enjoyed the peace of following the LORD.

Psalm 16:7–8 I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

David could sleep at night because he trusted the LORD.

Hope is a golden secret to Joy in the LORD!

Psalm 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.

One God CHECK

Trust Him CHECK

Appreciate God’s People CHECK

Don’t obsess over idolatry things CHECK

Let God be your inheritance you are a part of the family of God Check

Sleep well at night because God is in control acknowledge that all good things come from God Check

Hope is the capstone of Joy Rest assure in the promises on God

Hope is the thing that doesn’t make us ashamed it is the sure confidence the believer has in Christ

Rest in Hope.

Lamentations 3:21–26 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord.

Hope in The promises of God

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 43:2–3 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In Christ, we have the hope of victory over hell.

Psalm 16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

The wages of Sin is death is hopelessness in ourselves, but the GIFT OF GOD Freedom from sin and death and hell is Jesus and these verses victory over the grace are SPECIFICALLY talking about Jesus

Peter - “Jesus is victory over hell!” When the church first started and people said that Jesus rose from the dead they shouted Psalm 16 from the rooftops.

Peter says David in faith looked forward to Jesus conquering hell. He may not have truly understanded it, but it is right here right in front of YOU! The Golden Secret to JOY Unspeakable is Victory In JESUS!

Every Christian I know goes through seasons of discouragement, but when they attune their hearts to the truth’s of these golden secrets of joy it is soothing peace that the world will never understand.

Eternal Joy is coming!

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

We did this on the first of June in the evening praise service we just talked about heaven. FULNESS OF JOY. When you get there you will never have a season of discouragement again. Hope makes not ashamed and my hope has a name and his name is jesus.

Rest Secure in His promises

Jesus is victory over Sin death and Hell

Heaven with Jesus is coming

Close your eyes Christian and tell me this doesn’t bring you joy. If you aren’t a Christian you better become one but One day the day of Christ is coming for you. You close your eyes here and in a blink heaven!!!!! First thing you see is JESUS!

The throne the sea of glass the streets of Gold. The mansions in the great mountain of God!!!! The river that flows from the sea with the trees that bare their fruit in it’s season you take a bite and Your new glorified eyes focus and you see the strangest thing Cheribum like nothing you have ever seen before praising the Savior. You look around realizing that you have no more pain!!!! You can run your numb foot has feeling all your hair is back and then you see them LOVED ONES GONE BEFORE Your husband Your sister Your mother Your child you never met before. TEARS ARE ROLLING DOWN YOUR FACE TEARS OF JOY because God hasn’t wiped those away yet. You realize that you will never be hurt by an unkind word or lost love again. You walk the streets of gold skipping like you haven’t in years. The brilliance is so great and you realize that this is only the beginning and than those nail pierced hands take your you walk in the cool of the day like you were always intended to. God gives you new clothes and a stone with a new name on it just for you and He welcomes you to His eternal kingdom The gates are never closed the beauty of the place the pearls and the stones are the things of legend. You turn and praise Jesus again for the cross and the empty tomb you finall know the FULNESS OF HIS JOY!!!!!!

Think on that it is the golden secret to Joy!
