Big Idea: Understanding and embracing God's love equips us to guard our hearts and live according to His wisdom, preventing destruction and leading us toward fulfillment.

1. Safeguard with Scripture

Proverbs 7:1–5 “My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call insight your intimate friend, to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.”

In the early 1900s, a ship called the Titanic was touted as 'unsinkable'. Tragically, after hitting an iceberg on its maiden voyage, it sank. This disaster serves as a stark reminder of the importance of heeding warnings and following sound advice. God's commandments are like lifeboats, designed to navigate us through the treacherous waters of life and safeguard our journey. Ignoring them can lead to disaster, just like the Titanic's fate.

So, God offers obedience to his commands and laws as protection from infidelity with the “adulterous woman of your life” (Porn, Food, Greed, Money, Dreams, Adultery, Anxiety, Rage, Minsitry etc)

These verses advocate storing His words within and applying them as protection against temptation.

This reflects the big idea that encouraging listeners to embrace God's teachings will help them resist actions and thoughts that lead to destruction.

The main hinge on which faith turns is this: we must not imagine that the Lord’s promises are true objectively but not in our experience. We must make them ours by embracing them in our hearts.

So unlike most of the world lies to you about being a “christian” being able to be one foot in and one foot out, it is not so with God. You CANNOT separate Christianity and your personal/work life.

2. Secure with Self-control

Proverbs 25:28 “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.”

3. See with Spiritual Vision

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
