Hope Promise and Truth
our hope should be on Heaven
our promise is from God
and our TRUTH is in CHRIST ALONE
I hope that makes your heart smile this morning
Our message today centers on the Resurrection of the Dead… last week we talked about believing in the Resurrection
but the issue was deeper
It is also believing that YOU will be RESURRECTED
soul sleepers
annihilation theory
ALIVE IN CHRIST
Heaven is the place that we will walk with Jesus, after we PASS from this world
Dead to Earth, and Alive in Heaven
I could teach an academic lesson on the issues of the Resurrection,
but i am lead to preach on Hope, Promise and Truth
our verses today are from the second of three sections in 1 Cor 15
I am amazed about every book of the BIBLE, but when we are in it
when we are going deeper to find life lessons
it simply amazes me.
Our study is called UNITY
are you starting to see that it is by CHRIST alone
that we are UNITED
not be worldly things. Not by denomination
Christian is our IDENTITY
These people in Corinth, here in this chapter
are living a duality
they want the salvation, but not the lifestyle
They are in a tug of war between the WORLD and HEAVEN
WHERE ARE YOU?
Was there a Resurrection?
Was there a Resurrection?
Weird question in church is it not?
Especially after teaching on it last week
Our Scripture reminds us that There were eye witnesses to the Resurrection
these people told others what they saw
i would think it was singles, pairs and small groups that shared
the REALITY of the RESURRECTION
We must take it on Faith
YET if we believe in the infallible WORD in our BIBLE
then we can SEE the TRUTH
the Corinithians did not have the NEW TESTAMENT —— They didn’t have the BIBLE store, or even WALMART to buy a Bible
THEY heard it from another WHO was there.
To get us centered it is like reading a news article, and you read it to know what is going on
You must TRUST the SOURCE
YET we often ask the question today
IS THAT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
We can even read books on history and on occasion ask the QUESTION
IS THAT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
That is a reality of LIFE
WE DOUBT
WE SEEK TRUTH
and often seek until we find our version of it.
It is said if you want to find YOUR TRUTH, just need doing an internet search and eventually you will find an article that confirms your RIGHT
We struggle with the same as the Coriniths
Wanting HEAVEN, but LIVING for OURSELVES
We seek pleasure and avoid pain
It is our nature
So we may have it a little harder
Corinithians ——- heard the Word from eye witness, and the Teachers in their church that heard it from THEM
We have the Scripture, the NEW TESTAMENT, the Prophesy of the OLD TESTAMENT
and you have TEACHER who STUDIED THE WORD
But we also have the internet, smart phones, libraries, and
100s of way to find OUR TRUTH, instead of THE TRUTH
it is a bit DIFFERENT TODAY
many in this world, believe the Bible is just a collection of stories, staying, and information
WE KNOW it is the LIVING WORD OF GOD

Paul knows the challenge
The Corinthians did not doubt the resurrection of CHRIST —— THEY are doubting the Resurrection of CHRISTIANS
PAUL is teaching them how to combat the world
I know that this is a TEACHING TODAY FOR YOU —- to learn to defend the WORD in the WORLD
1 Corinthians 15:12–34 “12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.
15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.
16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised.
17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
Simply PUT
IF there is NO Resurrection, then there is NO SALVATION
Christ on the Cross, CHRIST buried and RAISED, CHRIST LIVING among us for 40 days —— to the Corinthians it was HISTORICAL FACT
PAUL met JESUS RESURRECTED
Paul argues.. YOU ARE SAVED BECAUSE OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST —— SAVED BY THE GOSPEL
If you do NOT believe then your FAITH IS EMPTY
No Faith,———- No HOPE, NO PROMISE, NO TRUTH
I think Pauls agrument That
Your heard the TRUTH, You BELIEVED the TRUTH, and YOUR lives are being transformed
CAN i stop a moment and ask you to think on that a moment
That question is a LIVING QUESTION FOR YOU in the SCRIPTURE
YOU HEARD THE TRUTH
YOU BELIEVED THE TRUTH
and YOUR LIVE IS BEING TRANSFORMED
This is way we are teaching the REMODELING SERIES… our 7:30 and 10:45 classes right now are the WORKSHOP
we are exploring the TRANSFORMATION
You BELIEVE and then BECOME
I am challenging YOU today
and PAUL is challenging them
ARE YOU BEING TRANSFORMED?
do you know the changes in YOU
do you know that you are more like Christ today than 10 years, 10 month, 10 days ago?????
If you are SAVED you are CHANGING
PAUL says if THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD is not TRUTH
then CHRIST is DEAD, and the GOSPEL IS A LIE
any one with me TODAY that could and should SCREAM

I have always loved the
TWO ADAMS ARGUEMENT
It was through the FIRST ADAM—— that sin entered the world
it was through the SECOND ADAM — death and sin are defeated and we are TRULY able to BE ALIVE
Because CHRIST LIVES TODAY, we know, we hope, we have FAITH that it is the SAME for US
First ADAM —— lost fellowship , lost unity with GOD
LAST ADAM —- through CHRIS we have VICTORY —- that victory is not of this WORLD —- it is BEYOND THIS WORLD
CHRIST GAVE US the MORE THAN
CHRISTIANS, have MORE THAN THIS LIFE. Because we have PROMISE of ETERNAL LIFE
ALL THINGS
ALL THINGS
Here is my final point today
We are REMINDED about ALL THINGS
1 Corinthians 15:27 “27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him.”
ALL THINGS includes ALL
death is under authority of Christ
To deny the resurrection is to deny HEAVEN
to deny the resurrection is to deny the FUTURE KINGDOM of CHRIST
if BELIEVERS are simply DEAD and GONE, then is nullifies the GOSPEL —- GOD’s Promise of eternal life is null and VOID
Friends we must believe the BIBLE
We must wrestle with TRUTH
and come out BELIEVING in the INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD IN THE SCRIPTURES ALONE
if it does not ALIGN with SCRIPTURE, then it is NOT TRUTH
PERIOD
1 cor 15 REMINDS US
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
it REMINDS US THAT THE RESURRECTION MUST BE REAL, and even DEEPER the RESURRECTION OF BELIEVERS
It reminds us that
CHRIST IS IN CONTROL OF ALL THINGS
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
27 For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him.
28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Paul concludes this section with a warning
DO NOT BE MISLEAD
33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
34 Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
Lets PRAY
We live because of HIM
so NOW WE LIVE FOR HIM
Jesus was RESURRECTED.. .RAISED FROM THE DEAD
Jesus died and now LIVES
so that we can do the SAME
That is the GOSPEL
the GOOD NEWS
That Jesus came to this earth to be the LAST ADAM
Jesus came to RESTORE the RELATIONSHIP
JESUS WON
we live because THROUGH JESUS WE LIVE
We KNOW that the DEAD are unbelievers
BELIEVERS are ALIVE FOR EVER
we get the GLORY to pass from this ugly world
to the PERFECTION of HEAVEN
so lets PRAY A PRAYER OF PRAISE
