John 15:16 KJV 1900
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
We have invested a total of four session discussing Rules that Cannot be Rewritten…
No matter what society says, everyone knows, modern Christianity professes…
There are some rules that cannot be rewritten!
Rule one: Rule of God’s Authority
The Creation cannot argue with the creator
Authority flows from ownership
Rebellion; the original sin
Rule two: Rule of Right and Wrong
Conscience is a witness, scripture is the standard
Society has no authority to redefine sin
Truth is not a democracy
Rule three: Rule of Sin and Judgement
Wages of sin
Devine appointment with death
The Power of Grace
Rule four: The Rule of Redemption
The Need
The Price
The Result
The Response
Today the firth rule: The Rule of Identity and Purpose
Introduction:
Everyone asks the question at some point: “Why am I here?”
From teenagers to retirees, there’s a longing to know that our life matters.
But too many live by accident instead of on purpose—surviving but not thriving.
Let’s settle this today: You were made on purpose, with purpose, for a purpose.
1. God’s Purpose Precedes Your Birth
Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”
You didn’t begin when your parents decided to have a child—you began in the mind of God.
    •    You’re not an accident; you’re an assignment.
    •    God didn’t discover you—He designed you.
🔹 Key Insight: Purpose is not something you create; it’s something you uncover - revealed to you.
🛠 Illustration: A tool doesn’t decide its purpose—the maker does. A hammer isn’t confused. You were handcrafted by God on purpose.
It is no wonder that the greater wedge that society drives between you and your creator…
The more that God is diminished in our lives…
The more depressed people become!
If I am a product of evolution or circumstance - if I am not created by a God then I can have no purpose and life does not matter!
Psalm 139:14 “14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.”
2. You Were Made for a Mission
Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
    •    You are God’s workmanship — the Greek word poiēma (poem, masterpiece).
    •    Your purpose is tied to your Creator, not your comfort.
    •    There is great purpose waiting for your “Yes.”
Queen Ester - made for purpose
A poor orphan girl
Ashamed and fearful of who she was
GIVEN A MISSION FROM GOD!
💡 Application: Ask not “What do I want to be?” but “Lord, what have You called me to do?”
3. Your Pain Doesn’t Cancel Your Purpose
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
    •    Even in trials, God is working it together for purpose.
    •    Your failures, setbacks, delays—they’re not wasted.
God is not just sovereign over your gifts, but also your grief.
Your story may have broken chapters, but the Author isn’t done writing.
🔥 Example: Joseph’s betrayal led to his promotion. David’s wilderness led to his crown. Jesus' cross led to resurrection.
4. Purpose Requires Partnership with God
Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will direct your paths.”
    •    Walking in purpose means walking in obedience.
    •    God doesn’t reveal the whole plan—just the next step.
    •    Purpose is daily faithfulness, not just one big moment.
🛤 Illustration: A GPS doesn’t give you all the turns at once. It gives direction as you move.
Take the next step. Don’t wait for perfect clarity—obey the last thing God told you.
Conclusion:
    •    Your identity is in Jesus.
    •    Your assignment is from God.
    •    Your significance is eternal.
You weren’t made to just pay bills and die. You were created to reflect God's glory, fulfill His plan, and impact eternity.
Call to Action:
1    To the unsure: Seek God. Your purpose is not lost—it’s waiting in His presence.
2    To the discouraged: Don’t quit. If you’re still breathing, your purpose is still active.
3    To the ready: Say Yes. Step into your calling with boldness.
