“How a Christian Views Death”
Mrs. Diane Fellows
It is an appointment - comfort in this knowing God is ready for it
Death is a guarantee in life for every single person.
Hebrews 9:27 “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement:”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (2) A time to be born, and a time to die…”
Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed unto his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Genesis 3:19 “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
Ecclesiastes 3:20 “All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”
Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
<<<From dust… To dust>>>
It is a homegoing
Psalms 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
I Thessalonians 4:13-18 “But I would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. (14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
II Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
It is a Rejoicing
Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Philippians 1:23 “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:”
Poem by Kelsie Cullers
Sweeter to leave all the burdens we carry.
Sweeter to let down our weary arms low.
Sweeter to rest in the presence of Jesus.
Sweeter to breathe out and let it all go.
Precious the promise of heaven that echoes,
Whispering peace in our striving and tears.
Precious to see all the loved ones there waiting.
Precious reunions we’ve longed toward for years.
Longing for heaven while walking these valleys.
Longing to no longer battle with sin.
No more disease, no pain and no heartbreak.
Longing to spend every day next to Him.
Joyful one day to look up and see Jesus.
Joyful to rest in His loving embrace.
Mansions and angels and roads paved in splendor,
Pale to the glory of seeing His face.
We must admit we are a sinner
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
We must realize Jesus died for our sin as a gift
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Salvation is by grace through faith
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
God saves all who call upon Him
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Repent; Admit you’re a sinner
Believe on Jesus by faith
Receive the free gift of eternal life Jesus offers all of us
