✨ The Story of Samuel Zwemer (1867–1952)

Background
Samuel Zwemer was an American missionary, scholar, and writer with a deep passion for reaching Muslim nations with the gospel. He believed strongly that God’s love extended to all people, including those in regions where Christianity was almost unknown or forbidden.
He once said:

“No man has the right to hear the gospel twice, while there remains someone who has not heard it once.”

🕊️ Missionary Work
Zwemer went to Arabia, Egypt, and other parts of the Muslim world, where few Christians dared to go.
He faced enormous resistance, extreme climate, spiritual opposition, and almost no visible fruit for years.
He and his wife lost two daughters to illness on the field. Still, they remained faithful.
🌐 Global Vision
Zwemer didn’t just serve one group—he spent his life calling the Western church to love all nations, especially those unreached by the gospel. He:
Traveled to over 60 countries, preaching and advocating for missions.
Wrote over 50 books, helping the church understand Islam and God's global mission.
Helped launch the Student Volunteer Movement, which inspired thousands of young people to take the gospel to the nations.
📖 Why His Story Shows God Is a God of All Nations:
Zwemer left comfort and familiarity to bring Jesus to people radically different from himself.
He believed in a gospel that transcends culture, language, and religion.
His life echoes the truth of Revelation 7:9 — that people from every tribe and language will worship before the throne.
Even though he saw little success in terms of conversions, Zwemer believed deeply that faithfulness in proclaiming God's global love was worth everything.
Some might say that God is a God of only certain nations or that he only wants to be in relationship with certain people
This month we are going to be talking about missions
God of All Nations
The Great Commission
Persecution in the Church
Evangelism in Our Town
Genesis 12:1–3 NIV
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Abram Got Out of His Comfort Zone for The Nations

Genesis 12:1 NIV
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you
Abraham had to leave his home and everything that he knew and trust the Lord.
Not everyone is called to leave their home like Abraham is but we are called to get out of our comfort zone in order to proclaim the Gospel to other people groups and people.
We are called to get out of our comfort zone in order to spread the Gospel.
To tell someone that we don’t know about Jesus
or to be friends with someone that we don’t want to be friend with
Example - When i first got to India or Vietnam
Example - When i was out of my comfort zone in Netherlands

God Called Abraham For The Nations

Genesis 12:2–3 NIV
2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Some people might read this passage and think that Abraham was called for himself or his family but this was not the case
Abraham was blessed so that he could bless others in the world. This was something that God was calling him to so he could bless all the nations of the world.
We see that God did not call Abraham and just forsake every other person on the earth.
He called Abram not for himself but for everyone else.
This is just like a minister of the gospel. God does not call them for themselves but for those who they are going to minister to.
God is calling each of you to the nations in some way shape or form. We will get more into this throughout this month but we are all called to take part in the missions to the nations.

Jesus Is The Blessing For All of The Nations

We see here in this passage that the promise of Jesus being the blessing for the world was all the way from Abraham.
We see this all throughout the Bible
Genesis 3:15 NIV
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Revelation 7:9 NIV
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
So we see here in these two passages that from Gen to Revelation is showing how Jesus will be a blessing to all the nations.
Jesus is the Blessing that came through Abraham. But one of the many ways that this blessing comes to the world is through missions.
God is a God that is coming after His people he is not waiting for them to come to him.
So are you a blessing?
Are you suppose be a blessing somewhere and you aren’t being one because you are scared?
Conclusion
Abram God out of his comfort zone for the nations
God Called Abraham For The World
Jesus Is The Blessing Foe All The Nations
Why do you think that it is important that God is a God of all the nations?
Why do you think it is important that we get out of our comfort zone to tell the gospel?
Why do you think it is important that God goes after people through missions?
Why is it important that we know the Jesus is the true blessing that came from Abraham?
What is one practical way this week that you can be a blessing to non believers? How can you get out of your comfort zone to share the gospel?
