When Jesus was born, a star announced His birth. Angels, shepherds, and wise men rejoiced at His birth.
Matthew 2:10 “When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”
Why was the birth of Jesus so important?
Matthew 1:21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.””
Why do we need to be saved from our sins?
Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned and He always obeyed God. Because He was perfect, He could pay for our sins and give us His perfect goodness.
The Death of Christ
How did Jesus pay for our sins?
The death of Jesus was so sad and horrible that God turned off all of the lights in the sky and made it dark as Jesus was hanging on the cross.
Matthew 27:45 “Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.”
A bright star announced His birth, and pitch black darkness announced His death.
If we want Jesus to forgive us of our sins, He will if we are sorry for our sins and believe in Jesus.
