Scripture:
1 Samuel 18-20
,
Psalm 27:10
Psalm 27:10 CSB
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the
Lord
cares for me.
Bottom Line:
Who you are isn’t defined by who’s for you or against you.
Engage:
Approval can feel like identity. Share a story where someone’s opinion made or broke your confidence.
David experienced both loyal friendship (Jonathan) and bitter jealousy (Saul).
Encounter:
Saul turned against David, but Jonathan’s friendship pointed him back to God.
Psalm 27
shows David’s trust that God’s acceptance outweighs human rejection.
Reveal:
If David’s identity was tied to Saul’s approval, he would have collapsed.
Bottom Line: Who you are isn’t defined by who’s for you or against you.
Empower:
Ask: Whose approval am I living for right now?
Memorize
Psalm 27:10
. When people let you down, remind yourself that the Lord receives you.
