As I was considering what we could study this week, a friend called and said something so very encouraging to me. That got me thinking that I would like to take several weeks here and go through a series of lesson for this podcast that looks at reason we are to be thankful each day. So today, we are going to start with the most important reason we are to be thankful and that for God’s love of us.
We all remember John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Maybe you are not as familiar with Romans 5:8 which reads…
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Each morning we wake up, it means God has blessed us with another day of his love for us here on earth. Each day allows us to witness his love towards us as we navigate through this old sinful world. It’s no wonder the psalmist over and over rejoiced and gave thanks to the LORD for his enduring love.
Psalm 107:1 NKJV
1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 105:1–4 NKJV
1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! 3 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord! 4 Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
Psalm 100:4–5 ESV
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
James, the half-brother of Jesus reminds us that we rejoice because God continually demonstrates his love for us each and every day we are live her on earth.
James 1:17 NKJV
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
David rejoiced and gave thanks to God as well as we read in 1 Chronicles 16:34.
1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV
34 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
God has continually shown you, me and the entire world how much he loves us. Each day we wake up let we should take a moment to meditate upon how blessed we are to have such a loving God and be willing to praise his holy name.
