CELEBRATING THE TRANSFORMATION THAT IS AVAILABLE IN JESUS CHRIST!
- It's been a while since we unpacked why we do baptism, where it comes
from & honestly it's significance!

What is Baptism? - The "outward symbol" of the inward work of God in our Lives!
WE HAVE OUTWARD SYMBOLS EVERYWHERE IN OUR LIVES!
THEY REPRESENT SOMETHING IMPORTANT IN OUR LIVES!

WHERE DID BAPTISM COME FROM?
THE OUTWARD SYMBOL OF BAPTISM WAS ESTABLISHED BY JESUS!
JESUS WOULD SAY, “REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED”
WATER BAPTISM BECAME THE OUTWARD SYMBOL TO DEMONSTRATE TO THE WORLD THAT YOU WERE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS!
Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’
BAPTISM SYMBOLIZES THE OLD IS GONE AND ALL THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW!
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
IN ORDER TO CATCH THE CONTEXT, YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO BACK UP AND START IN V.13
If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.
THAT’S THE PICTURE OF BAPTISM
OUR SIN IS BURIED IN CHRIST. (WE GO UNDER THE WATER)
He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
WHEN WE COME UP OUT OF THE WATER, WE ARE SAYING THAT WE HAVE BEEN “RAISED” WITH JESUS AND THAT MEANS OUR LIVES ARE NOT LONGER OUR OWN!
IF YOU’RE GETTING BAPTIZED TODAY, WHEN YOU COME UP OUT OF THE WATER, CELEBRATE BECAUSE THE OLD LIFE IS GONE!
So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!
WHEN WE ARE IN CHRIST, WE DON’T EVER SEE THE WORLD THE SAME AGAIN!
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

OUR SINS ARE NO LONGER COUNTED AGAINST US!

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

WE DON’T HAVE TO STRIVE FOR BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION ANYMORE!
WE CAN BE FREE AND WE CAN LIVE FREE!
TRANSFORMED BY THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST AND EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT!
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
GOD CREATES A MESSAGE IN US AND HAS MADE US HIS MESSENGERS.
