How many of you have known someone who at one time you thought they never did anything wrong?
How many of you realized that they did something wrong at one point of time. How many of you know anyone who has never done any wrong? There is no such thing for anyone who has lived in this world besides one, and that is Jesus.

Big Idea- Jesus is the only one who has lived a perfect life.

Take Aways

All have sinned.
Without Christ there is no redemption.
Salvation is through Christ.
What is sin?
Sin is anything that displeases God, anything that goes against Gods divine law.
How did sin enter the world?
Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve sinned against God in the garden of Eden.
See in the beginning, in Genesis, God made everything, and He made everything Good. When God had made everything He placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and told them that they could eat of all of the tree’s in the garden but not from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. However Adam and Eve disobeyed God and this was the act of Sin.
What is the consequence of Sin?
Yes the wages of Sin is Death
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The wages of Sin is death and with that there is eternal separation from God and the wrath of God.
However in Genesis 3:15 God gives a solution to the problem of Sin.
What is this solution?
Yes the solution is Jesus.
Genesis 3:15 NKJV
And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
Here this verse is talking about putting hostility or opposition between the serpent aka team Satan and the seed of the Woman who is Jesus. When it says He will bruise the head of the serpent it is letting us know that Jesus will defeat Satan and the bruising of Jesus heal is his death, but then he Raises from the dead on the third day.
So here we see from Genesis that because of Adam Sin has entered into the World and has corrupted all flesh so mankind is born in sin and in need of a savior.
Apart from Jesus, who has sinned?
Yes all have sinned.
Why would God allow sin in the word?
God new that mankind would sin and he allowed mankind to sin so that He could display his perfect love by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.
Now we are going to go into our main text. Romans 3:9-11
Romans 3:9–11 NKJV
What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
This is what it looks like when we are under sin, we do not work to do what is right but instead we do what we believe is good for ourselves. We do not seek to understand the Will of God, instead we work to do our own will.
Romans 3:12 NKJV
They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”
What makes someone profitable to the Lord?
Someone is profitable when they operate in the way that God intended for them to, to serve God. When someone has placed their faith in Christ and are working to do His will then they are profitable to the Lord.
What does it mean to do Gods Will?
Yes to do Gods Will means that you are doing what God wants you to do.
How do we know what Gods Will is?
We know what Gods Will is by reading the Bible, the Bible shows us Gods Will.
Romans 3:13–17 NKJV
“Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.”
How many of you know or have seen people who are violent and mean and they regularly use foul language and they cant seem to help themselves. That is just how they are? They can try to be better on their own but they cant, its just their way.
This is how we are without Christ. If Jesus has not been made Lord of our lives and His Spirit has not come in and changed our hearts to truly want to serve God rather then ourselves then we are slaves to sin and we cannot help to do so.
But Jesus came to change that, He came so that we could have life and that more abundantly in Him. True life in Christ is living as we were intended to live by serving Him and not our own interests.
Romans 3:18 NKJV
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Those who have not placed their faith in Christ do not fear God because they do not know God.
Proverbs 9:10 NKJV
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
To fear the Lord is to understand where he is in comparison to us. He is Holy, He is perfect, He is different from us and so much greater. He is Holy and we are not.
When we understand where God is and who He is then we know that He is God and Lord of all and that we are to serve Him.
Romans 3:19–20 NKJV
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
What is the law this verse is talking about?
Yes, the Law is Gods Word particularly in the Old Testament the first five books of the Bible. These books of the Bible describe how Gods people are to live.
What verse 19 and 20 are telling us is that the law was given to mankind to show us what the standard of perfection is. If anyone breaks the law of God then they sin.
Since all have been born in sin and all have sinned then everyone is guilty of breaking Gods law and is condemned to experience Gods Wrath.
But there is good news!
Who can tell me what the Good news is?
Yes, God sent His son who lived a perfect sinless life and then died on the cross in place of those who will place their faith in Him so that we can be brought back in right relationship with God and no longer being condemned to death and Hell. Instead when we place our faith in Christ we are given the Holy Spirit that works in us to change us to want to serve Him, and to be more like Him and our eternal destination is to be in the presence of God forever!
Salvation is through Christ alone!
Acts 4:12 NKJV
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
What is that name?
Yes, Jesus!
We in ourselves could not live a sinless life apart from Christ, but we place our faith in the one who Did and that is Jesus who is 100% man and 100% God. He was promised in Genesis to be the solution to the problem of sin and now we can have eternal life and follow the Lord because of Him.
Romans 3:23–26 NKJV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
We can have salvation by placing our faith in Christ who made it possible.
How can we place our faith in Christ?
Romans 10:9 NKJV
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
This confession that Jesus is Lord is not just through words, this confession is one that shows in action as well. So we confess that Jesus is Lord and we make Him Lord of our lives meaning we now serve Him as our king working to do His will. We also believe the Gospel that Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day.
