Introduction

Claims are circulating within the Church that one can be saved but not have the Holy Spirit, based on the narratives recorded in the book of Acts, specifically Acts 19:1-7. Today, I want to explore this statement with Scripture to test whether it is biblically true that an individual can be saved but not have the Holy Spirit.

Salvation is Dependent Upon. . .

Faith - essentially it is trust, but in who or what regarding salvation
In Jesus, but what about Him.
His Person and Work (John 1:1-18; 20:30-31; Romans 1:1-4; 10:5-15; 1 Co 1:18-2:16; 15:1-14; Ephesians 1:15-22)
Salvation is dependent upon believing Jesus is the Messiah, Son of God, Divine Creator of the Universe, same nature as the Father, eternal, fully God and man, in union with the Father, unique relationship with the Father, the bread of life, the light of the world, the good shepherd, the I am in the flesh, the Lion and the Lamb, the Holy One of God, the firstborn from the dead, the first fruit of those who have fallen asleep, the first born of all creation, Supreme LORD and King.
It is trusting in the fact Jesus Christ our LORD is in fact LORD and the He rose from the dead, a demonstration of God’s immeasurable power.

People can believe but not be saved

Conclusion

All individuals who are saved have the promise of the Holy Spirit because there is no other means by which a person can understand the power of God. Without the Holy Spirit a believing person does not understand, therefore is not saved. Without the Holy Spirit they are not guaranteed the inheritance that is promised (Eph 1:11-14)
