3 Doors
Horrible one, OK one, Great one
Christ today tells 3 doors we can choose enter
life opening
death is entering
which one shall choose?
Lets look behind each from Script today.
Gospel
parable God returning servants.. DESCRIBE
3 different outcomes based what do:
lets look behind door number 1-3
Door#1 Hell
get ugliest out way
emblaz image drunk and beating others
impure God’s goods or do wrong by others is opening door
God will ‘severely punish’
bad transl
dikatamaesae ‘cut in 2’
unlike image beatings, image rather… eh permanent
st. Basil: this visceral symbolizes eternal cut off God
Erasmo: “as expected, many translations rush to soften such an image.”
careful distort Christs words
name of niceness do cruelest:
softly fluffily endager souls
Christ warns repeat in visceral language
no one does more prevent hell
literally to that length,
but he still lets us choose that door: therefore, lets keep this door shut
avoid impurity and mistreat ANYONE.
thus unforgiven mortal sin choosing that door
running confess is slamming shut
Door #2 Purgatory
image of negligent
ends up in heaven
in that sense, great
but long painful hallway b4
dont do affirm wrong, but negligent
dont prepare and do righteous deeds
image temporary: beating
heavy knew God’s will, light to ones didnt
as line 59, all wrong doings we will pay to last penny b4 relesease
payment is not pleasant as 1 Cor 3:15 says
but is temporary
so not hell, not forever
so many early fathers talk of reality of Purgatory,Clement of Alex, Origen, Tertulion, Gregory of Nyssa, st. Greg Great, Martyrdom of Perpetura Augustine.
but not new
already part Jewish by time Christ 2 Macc 12.
However looks, this is just idea of justice being real and ability to account for non-mortal sin after death
source peace not get to heaven unless perfect...and uh that number would be scary low this side of the grave I think
Door #3 Heaven
on this image one lost life to service
wise constantly about Masters work even when seems gone
gives own propert to help poor + keeps pure james 1:27
in short one who makes life about God
1 John 3:2. Be like God and see Him as He is
beyond anything hope for
it is to be Good and to Behold Goodness Beauty Himself for all eternity
Goodness for goodness sake
Pious b4 God in all action, actually will have God in the next
despite dreary appearances that life: to see God and be like Him is more pure and joyful than the greatest ecstasy you have ever experienced
in short if we lose our lives for His sake we will find it
but even the opening door in this life starts to taste peace
Therefore choose door #3.

Me
46: dikatamaesae: to cut in two (peices) a condemend man
PG version: behead
Erasmo notes “as expected, many translations rush to soften such an image.”
12:59 ‘until pay last penny’
1 Corinthians 3:11–15 “For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”
-Clement of Alex, Origen, Tertulion, Gregory of Nyssa, st. Greg Great, Martyrdom of Perpetura Augustine all talk about purgatory
-more alert since challenged

good reward
severe beating (not well prepared)
light beating (ignorant)
St. Maximus
lamps burning are prayer and contemplation
St. Gregory
burning lamps are good examples
St Cyril Alexandria
doesnt mention 1st watch as represents childhood and those arent punished but pardoned.
St Ambrose
seems applicable to all but primarily aimed at priests and pope
St. Basil
cutting in 2 symbolizes eternal separation from God
lighter or greater is pains of hell
St Chrysostom
priest suffers more for sin due to greater knowledge
Origen 12:59
can never pay great debt but can pay lighter ones (suggests in next life)
