Treasure Worth Everything
Treasure Worth Everything
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
El Reino de Dios es tan valioso que nada se compara con él. The Kingdom of God is so valuable that nothing compares to it.
Cuando realmente veas su valor, no habrá nada que no hagas para obtenerlo. When you truly see its worth, there is nothing that you wont do to gain it.
In Jesus’ day, people didn’t have banks like we do.
Treasure was often hidden in the ground for safekeeping.
Jesus uses this to illustrate his point on the value of the kingdom.
A farmer who stumbles upon treasure in a field.
A merchant (mercader) who deliberately searches for valuable pearls.
Both men discover something so valuable they joyfully give up everything else to have it.
This is what the Kingdom of God is like—it’s not an accessory to your life; it becomes the center of your life.
1. The Kingdom Is of Incomparable Value
1. The Kingdom Is of Incomparable Value
When we look at the great treasure or expensive pearl that was found, we think its the Holy Ghost… BUT Jesus said the treasure was the Kingdom of Heaven!
The treasure and the pearl represent the rule and reign of God in your life—both now and forever.
Many see religion/church as one part of life; Jesus says the Kingdom is worth more than all of life combined.
The Kingdom of God is all of life!
Many people treat the Kingdom of God like an extra thing to be added…
I have my job, my family, my hobbies, and Jesus…
But when you understand the Kingdom you know that your life is found in the Kingdom!
My family is better in the kingdom!
My job is better in the kingdom!
Everything is better when I live in the kingdom!
Philippians 3:7–8 — Paul says he considers everything loss compared to knowing Christ.
Pablo dijo que todo es pérdida comparado con conocer a Cristo.
Until you see the value of the Kingdom, you will hold onto lesser things.
2. The Kingdom Is Found in Different Ways
2. The Kingdom Is Found in Different Ways
The Farmer: Accidentally discovers treasure. (Like the Samaritan woman in John 4—she wasn’t looking for Jesus, but He found her.)
The Merchant: Is actively searching. (Like Nicodemus in John 3—seeking truth until he finds Christ.)
Truth: Some stumble upon God’s Kingdom, others search for it—but everyone must decide when they find it that it is the most important thing in their lives!
3. The Kingdom Requires Total Surrender
3. The Kingdom Requires Total Surrender
Both men sold all they had. This was not a half-hearted trade.
Jesus is not saying you can buy your way into the Kingdom. He’s saying the Kingdom demands your whole life.
Luke 14:33 — "Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple."
Truth: You can’t have the Kingdom while clinging to the throne of your own life.
4. The Kingdom Brings Joyful Sacrifice
4. The Kingdom Brings Joyful Sacrifice
“…and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has…” (v. 44)
Surrender is not loss when you see the value of what you gain.
People give up careers, habits, relationships, and dreams—not with regret, but with joy—when they see Jesus clearly.
Truth: The cost may be high, but the joy outweighs it every time.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
You have so much more to gain by serving God than you will ever loose!
This world we line in demands so much of us…
We work 40-60 hours a week.
We have family responsibilities.
We have things we have to do…
We set aside a couple hours a week to worship God…
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE FOR YOU!
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS SO MUCH BIGGER!
Practical Applications:
Practical Applications:
Reevaluate Your Values – Ask: “What am I holding onto that keeps me from fully embracing the Kingdom?”
Count the Cost – Following Jesus means some things in your life must go. Are you willing?
Pursue the Treasure – Make time with God, obedience to His Word, and Kingdom service your highest priorities.
Share the Value – If you’ve found the treasure, tell others where it is!
Closing Challenge:
Closing Challenge:
The Kingdom is the only investment that brings eternal return.
The real question is: Have you seen its value?
If you have, what are you willing to lay down for it—today?
Call to Action: “Don’t just admire the treasure from a distance. Sell out for it. Lay down your life for it. Gain the Kingdom.”
