Holy Holy Holy
We Bow Down
Lead on oh King eternal?
Melek - King!
Psalm 5:2 Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray.
God is the King! We have talked about God the Creator the provider protector and it is also important to notice that God is the one true King. He is the one who deserves our worship. We live in a day and age where respect for those in positions of authority is quickly vanishing. It is just quickly eroding. There are hardly any kings on the throne, I don’t think that is all together a good thing. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate living in the democracy that we do. A monarchy can be easily corrupted. But it is good for us to learn that respect for authority. I will tell you the best form of government, it is the true theocracy that’s coming in the millenial kingdom. When Jesus sits on the throne as God and king. But today A kid gets in trouble at school it’s the teachers fault. My mother reminded me all the time, you are a kid you don’t know better if you come home from school in trouble it’s your fault. Even if it was the kid next to you who did it, it’s still your fault for being next to him. Today there are some kids the teacher looks at them funny for doing something wrong and the kid is getting the teacher in trouble. That leads to children who don’t have respect for the police and think that they will tell an officer of the law how to do their job. That continues to people who have no respect for leaders military service members and even the President. Let me tell you their are Presidents that I haven’t liked. Thank God I live in a free country where I can say that. But I have the decency to give the office of the President Respect. It tells me the state of affairs of a society when you are the cool kid on the block for having posters of terrible things to say about the President, and you probably don’t even know a thing about the man. People treat the LORD Jesus Christ the same way. They don’t know him but they don’t respect Him His position or His authority. BUT Oh one day they will.
Let Me introduce you to the King!
Revelation 19:16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Usually I take you to the beginning of the Bible to look at Abraham meeting El Shaddai El Gibbor or El Elyon but not Melek God is King. I decided to take you to the back of the book to find out that Jesus is King of Kings and LORD of LORDS that He sits on the throne of this world and it belongs to Him.
There are some good kings in this world.
2 Chronicles 26:3–5 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.
I am dating myself. I was born in 1980 the first President I remember is Ronald Regan he was a good President. He lived in the White house for 8 years after which George Bush held on for 4 years then we have had a see saw of Presidents. Bill Clinton George W Barack Obama Trump Biden and Trump. In my 45 years of life we have 7 changes of administration that often feel like a reaction to the previous one. Back and forth. Could you image 52 years of a man in the white house who sought the LORD and did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh and God made him prosper.
With God’s help, Uzziah defeated the Philistines.
2 Chronicles 26:6–8 Now he went out and made war against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities around Ashdod and among the Philistines. God helped him against the Philistines, against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and against the Meunites. Also the Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah. His fame spread as far as the entrance of Egypt, for he became exceedingly strong.
The Philistines and the Egyptians had been enemies since Samson’s days and they lived in the land of Gaza today. Things haven’t changed. If a leader in Israel could quiet down the tension in that area they would be a hero. Uzziah was a national hero.
Uzziah became a national hero.
2 Chronicles 26:14–15 Then Uzziah prepared for them, for the entire army, shields, spears, helmets, body armor, bows, and slings to cast stones. And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong.
A book I read in preparing for this message said that some scholars believe that Uzziah was the young prophet Isaiah’s hero. Of course he was leading his country to great things. He was making them a military might, financially making a difference and turning the heart of the people to God. But Uzziah was only a man.
Pride ruined a great king.
2 Chronicles 26:16 But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.
I believe that the most dangerous place to be is at the top. I always say a small church has small problems a big church with a pastor who writes books and speaks on TV comes with a lot of temptation. the same thing is said of the throne. That is a dangerous place. and as you pray for your president. Whether you like him hate him or tolerate him pray that temptation and pride won’t destroy him or this country. Isaiah did something very wrong he as the king tried to take on the job of a priest. That will always get you into trouble. Except for Jesus and Melchizedek A king is to be a king and a priest a priest. They need to stay in their lane. But the devil who is the author of pride attempted and succeeded at ruining the life of Uzziah.
Uzziah became a leper.
2 Chronicles 26:19–20 Then Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the Lord, beside the incense altar. And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and there, on his forehead, he was leprous; so they thrust him out of that place. Indeed he also hurried to get out, because the Lord had struck him.
This is such a dramatic event. Can’t you picture it. Uzziah gets scolded by the priests for taking the incense and he is going to tell them a thing or two. Don’t think that you or anyone else can put the man of God in their place when they give you godly advice. It backfired on Uzziah can’t you just picture his face as the leprosy spreads across his body.
The unceremonious death of Uzziah.
2 Chronicles 26:21 King Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He dwelt in an isolated house, because he was a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord. Then Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
52 years of good ruined in an instant. Don’t let your guard down don’t let pride get in your way it will ruin you. It has ruined too many men. Ravvii Zacharius was a Christian apologist who I spoke about many times in this church. He faded out uncerimoniously after sinful scandel, so has Michael tate the lead singer of the News Boys. Many other Christian leaders have gone the same way. Pray for your President that he will not ruin his carreer in a moment. So what does this have to do with our God the King!
Isaiah comes face to face with the true King.
Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
This passage is called Isaiah’s call, do you notice how it starts. In the year King Uzziah died. Do you remember that I told you that scholars believe that Uzziah was deservingly so Isaiah’s national hero. But in the year that he died. Isaiah comes face to face with the true king the true national hero of Israel. I am not taking away anything good the Uzziah did or not emphasing his fall from grace. I am just saying that kings and heros of this world will let you down but Jesus is the one true KING!!!!
Heaven worships the true king.
Isaiah 6:2–3 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”
Heaven worships the King around His throne and in His temple. I can’t wait to see my Jesus in His throne. I also can’t wait to see Seraphim. There 6 wings 4 faces but do you want to know the purpose of those other worldly angels. They are to divert all worship to God the Holy One the LORD of Hosts. I am telling you Isaiah left that temple with a new hero. He learned real quick that all Uzziah’s success was because of this God here. We come to church. I am going to try to always call this our services here prayer or worship services. Some churches call them celebration services. I don’t know why I am not going to question their motives. But here this is a worship service. Don’t come to church asking what did I get out of the service. The song the Bible reading and the message what did God get out of hit how did he grab your heart. How did you act like a Seraphim
The Glory of our King is like no other.
Isaiah 6:4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
The mere pronouncement of the Glory of God is enough to shake the temple. This is something more than pomp and circumstance
In the presence of the King, Isaiah realizes how unworthy he is.
Isaiah 6:5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”
Isaiah realizes that Uzziah isn’t anything compared to the King of heaven. And that he is unworthy to come into the temple to the throne. We should have the same reverence every time we come to worship each Sunday each morning but because what Jesus did at the cross we can come boldly to the throne of grace.
Submit to the King.
Isaiah 6:6–9 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
As a servant of the King Isaiah says here am I send me. He surrenders to the commands of His king we should do the same.
Obey King Jesus!
Luke 6:46 ““But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”
When God calls you answer. When He puts something on your heart you respond. Obey your King! I obey Him above all else. I think of the words of Peter and John we ought to obey God rather than man.
God is my King, Forever!
Psalm 10:16 The Lord is King forever and ever; The nations have perished out of His land.
God’s Kingdom is eternal. We have had 7 administrations in my short life time each different and more radical in polar opposite directions. Jesus Kingdom is eternal and consistant. He is faithful like a rock and no scandal will ever shake His crown. That should get an AMEN!
Jesus is the Executive King
Genesis 49:10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.
Jacob blesses his sons as he neared his death and he prophecied that the King the Messiah would come from the line of Judah from Judah who the devil tried to destroy that line a time or two to David to Jesus for eternity. But that God is the one who holds the Scepter the buck stops here he is the one who executes the adminstration of the laws
Jesus is the Lawgiving King.
Psalm 60:7 Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver.
Our government is in beautiful balance a Executive Legislative and Judicial branch remember civics class. President Trump is not the King. But our wise founding father bathed in prayer set up a system of checks and balances to protect our governement from Uzziah type of moments. Pray for the President but also pray for Congress and for the supreme court. But in Jesus we find that He holds the scepter and that he is the lawgiver and guess what He is also the King the judge.
Jesus is the King who judges.
Isaiah 33:22 (For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us);
I like that verse I think the balance of power in our governement works best in the form of our good. It works well but could still be corrupted in this country but it is all good when God is the one who holds and balances all the power because He is an all good all holy God.
Our God reins supreme.
Psalm 93:1 The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.
Can’t you picture the majesty of our great God. He is the king Melek I need you to come to church and when you get here your focus should be directed to heaven. Church isn’t a place you come to find 10 ways to make your life better or ten steps to a better you it is about God in heaven. Turn your eyes on Him .
Jesus came as the humble servant.
John 6:15 Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
The cross proved Jesus is worthy of the Crown.
Philippians 2:8–11 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus is the King Eternal.
1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
The King is coming.
1 Timothy 6:15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
Prepare yourself for the King.
Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Matthew is the book that sees Jesus as the King of the Jews. It has the Kingdom parables the three kings from the east come to visit the King. Jesus is the King
Are you prepared to meet the King?
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
