Here’s a list of meaningful Scriptures for weddings:

1. The First Marriage

Intro: From the very beginning, God designed marriage as a sacred union between man and woman.
Genesis 2:18–24 “18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19 Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one…”
Conclusion: In this divine mystery, two become one, revealing God’s intent for lifelong companionship and unity.

2. The Strength of Togetherness

Intro: Scripture reminds us that life is stronger and richer when shared with another.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 “9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Conclusion: With God as your third strand, your bond will not be easily broken.

3. The Power of Love

Intro: These poetic words describe love as a powerful, enduring flame.
Song of Solomon 8:6–7 “6 Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised.”
Conclusion: Let your love burn with passion and permanence, a fire lit by heaven.

4. What God Has Joined Together

Intro: Jesus affirms the sacredness of marriage and the unity it creates.
Matthew 19:4–6 “4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.””
Conclusion: You are no longer two, but one—joined by God, never to be separated.

5. Abiding in Love

Intro: Jesus teaches us to remain in His love and to extend that love to one another.
John 15:9–12 “9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
Conclusion: As you abide in His love, you’ll find joy in loving and serving each other.

6. The Nature of True Love

Intro: Paul’s famous words describe the kind of love that builds a lasting marriage.
1 Corinthians 13:4–8 “4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”
Conclusion: This is the love you are called to live out—patient, kind, enduring, and never failing.

7. Christ-Centered Marriage

Intro: Paul paints a picture of mutual love and respect, modeled after Christ’s love for the Church.
Ephesians 5:21–33 “21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and…”
Conclusion: In honoring one another, your marriage becomes a living reflection of Christ’s love.

8. Clothed in Love

Intro: As God’s chosen ones, we’re called to clothe ourselves in virtues that reflect His character.
Colossians 3:12–14 “12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
Conclusion: Above all, let love be the thread that binds your hearts in perfect unity.
