because of it, the elders got good tertimony from God

people of old= Abel, Abraham, Enoch, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Noah, and Rahab

commendation= be witness. declare. aprove

because of faith, we know that God created the universe with his word

Because he had faith, Abel was able to offer God an acceptable sacrifice

Because he did not have faith, Cain was not able to offer a good sacrifice

righteous= just, honored, good inocent

even after his death, his works vared witness that he was just, righteous

God himself also testifies that Abel was righteous

v 2 is a prelude or intro for what is next

v 3 is the beginig of thsis narratinve, in the begining

Adam is omited because he saw God here on earth

the next person in sequence is Abel

this book was written to the Jews, and this section tries to teach them what faith is

v1 is telling us what faith does for a believer

v2 is telling us that thorugh faith the ancient men of Israel were commended by God

without faith it is impossible to please God

v3 shows the Jews that they do pratice their faith by believing that through the word of God, everything was created

faith enables us to believe that the things which are seen came from things wicth we could not see
