HOPE (John 14:1–6)
I. SINCERE HOPE—John 14:1–3
A. Christ’s words, “Let not your heart be troubled”
(Have faith in Christ and His words—don’t worry)
B. Faith in Christ, “Ye believe in God, believe also in me”
(Notice belief in God and Jesus is important)
C. Preparation, “I go to prepare a place for you”
(Jesus, the carpenter on earth, now building us a home in heaven)
D. Sure words, “I will come again”
E. Shall see Him—1 Thess. 4:13–18
(See Him as He really is. Know Him by the nail prints)
II. SANCTIFYING HOPE—1 John 3:3
A. Changes us now—1 John 3:3
(If we have this hope, we will cleanse ourselves daily)
B. Bodies will be changed—1 Cor. 15:51–52
(Our earthly body will be changed into a heavenly body)
C. Should live a pure life—Matt. 5:8
(Pure heart will make pure lives)
The more we look for the Lord’s coming, the better Christian lives we will live
III. SATISFYING HOPE—Rev. 21:2–4
A. The beautiful city—v. 2
(John saw the beautiful city as a bride adorned for the bridegroom)
B. The joy of heaven—Rev. 21:3–4
(The six no mores of heaven)
C. The light of heaven—Rev. 21:22–26
(There will be no night there. Jesus will be the light)
D. The requirement—Rev. 21:27)
(A place for the pure and holy people)
IV. SURE HOPE—Rom. 5:1–11
A. Justified by hope—Rom. 5:1
(This really means that He forgives and forgets our sins)
B. Hope through love—Rom. 5:5–11
C. Hope in times of trouble—Rom. 5:3–4
(Are you discouraged? Jesus is coming—cheer up)
D. In the Old Testament, people looked forward to Jesus’ birth. Now, we look forward to His second coming
