Announce the charity shop.
English Standard Version Chapter 1
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul
Increase is God’s will, this is evident through scriptures.
We see this at creation- be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth.
Jesus said he has appointed us to go and bear fruit. John 15:16.
Fruitfulness means increase.
But having things in right porportion is key.
Too much of a good thing can become a bad thing!
Too much water kills the plant, too much food kills the body, too much rest destroys the soul, too much exercise burns out the body.
A gardener once shared that the secret to his vibrant flowers was not just watering them abundantly but also pruning them regularly. He explained that the cutting back, though painful for the plants, allowed for new growth and beauty to emerge. In much the same way, our spiritual lives require both nourishment from God and the willingness to let go of habits or relationships that hinder our growth. John 10:10 reminds us that Jesus came to bring life abundantly, emphasizing that our willingness to engage in the pruning process is essential to that abundance.
The rich young ruler was unable to remain healthy in abundance. So whilst God wants most certainly to bless and increase you in every way, we must be good and honourable stewards. Especially with financial abundance; this must never turn us away from Gods ways as it did with the rich young ruler.
In what ways will God abundantly and supernaturally bless us ?
10:10 Life even in hard times.
Deuteronomy 32:13 “
“He made him ride in the heights of the earth,
That he might eat the produce of the fields;
He made him draw honey from the rock,
And oil from the flinty rock; (Deuteronomy 32:13, NKJV)
We believe in the perseverance of the saints, but many are not saints, and therefore do not persevere. Nominal saints exhibit no final perseverance.
Truth Stranger Than Fiction, Volume 35, Sermon #2081 - Joel 2:25
Charles Spurgeon
Honey out of the rock means God is able to supply the best even in hard times. . God is able to bring honey out of that tough situation.
God blessed Isaac in famine.
Jesus fed 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fishes.
This event illustrates not just a physical multiplication of resources, but a profound truth about God’s ability to provide abundantly beyond what we can imagine. Just as He did then, He can bring supernatural increase in our lives today.
The church grew in hard times.
In the early days of the church, the followers of Christ faced intense persecution. However, as they persevered in prayer and love, their numbers grew exponentially. The Acts of the Apostles recounts how despite hardships, daily new believers joined their ranks. This supernatural increase defied logic; it was the work of the Holy Spirit empowering them to spread the gospel far and wide, demonstrating that when God is at work, nothing can stand in His way.
2. 10:10 Life even from small beginnings.
Job 8:7 “And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great.”
And though your beginning was small,
your latter days will be very great.
Everything great starts small. You are part of something great.
In the Bible, the story of the widow’s offering (Mark 12:41-44) reveals the heart of abundance. She had so little—two small coins—but gave freely out of her poverty. Her action reflects a life of faith overflowing with joy and gratitude, not defined by material wealth but by spiritual richness. Abundant life is about sharing what we have, trusting God fully, and recognizing that true wealth is found in relationships and acts of kindness, echoing the widow’s pure-hearted offering to God.
Don’t withhold the little, it is blessed when released.
Abundant life is not determined by how much we get but by how well we give.
You are blessed to bless others. The blessing is to be shared. The parable of the young rich ruler.
Luke 12:15 “And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.””
there are those who have so much but give little, and those who ahve little but give much.
A friend of mine once shared a story about his grandmother, who lived simply but joyfully in a small house full of love. She hosted family dinners every Sunday, turning her modest kitchen into a place of laughter and fellowship. Even with limited resources, she created an abundant life, filled with love and purpose. Abundant living isn't about how much we possess but how much love we give and share with others—this reflects God’s heart for us and the richness of life He intends.
3. 10:10 Life even in the home—
Psalm 115:14 “May the Lord give you increase, you and your children!”
Abundance means overflowing- what overflows in your home? The kingdom should overflow in your home, joy, righteousness, faith.
4. 10:10 Life is for the meek.
Ish 29:19,
English Standard Version Chapter 29
The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the LORD,
and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.
Matthew 5:5 ““Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
You don’t need to be like those in the world to gain abundance.
5. When God does it, it is perfect.
Psalm 71:21 “You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.”
6. The supernatural yields.
Psalm 85:12 “Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase.”
7. It is to be shared as a family.
Jeremiah 23:3 “Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply.”
Imagine a kid in a candy store with a dollar bill. They can buy a single candy bar and be happy or save to buy a whole bag of assorted treats. Growth in our lives often looks like saving up our choices to experience greater joy later. Just as with candy, choosing wisely with God can lead to greater abundance in our spiritual lives!
I once read about a family that would have 'share nights' where everyone had to bring one personal item to the table. One evening, my cousin brought a broken toy instead of a new one. As she shared its story, we all realized how memories could be more valuable than the toy itself. This resonates with the biblical concept of sharing our strengths and weaknesses with each other, creating a space for love and vulnerability, just like in 2 Corinthians 12:9, where we learn that our weaknesses reveal God’s strength.
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Consider the joy of sharing.
Application:
At home, you may feel overwhelmed by the constant urge to acquire more—whether it's clothes, gadgets, or decorations. Start by decluttering your living space. Choose one area each week to sort through belongings. For every item you keep, consider donating or disposing of one. This process not only creates physical space but also cultivates gratitude for what you already have. Reflect on the blessings in your life through prayer or journaling as you remove distractions, allowing you to focus on relationships and experiences that bring true joy.
