Hunter asked me would I say a few words because He said his mama would have wanted me to talk about my faith so that's what I am going to try and do.
I have often wondered when at a funeral after looking around at all the graves. what would those that have passed say to the living if they had one more chance to say one more thing. Now i know we will never get that message but i want you to bear with me while i speculate on what that message would be. In
1. Confess Christ Now
1. Confess Christ Now
Romans 10:9-10
that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
for with the heart a person believes, leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, leading to salvation.
The Applied New Testament Commentary (The New Way of Righteousness (10:5–21))
This is the way of salvation. To obtain salvation, there are two things we must do: first, confess with our mouth; and second, believe in our heart. If we confess only with our mouth but do not believe, we are liars. If we think we believe but do not confess Christ with our mouth, we deceive ourselves and our faith is false. A person cannot be saved unless they are ready to confess with their mouth that “Jesus is Lord.” The so-called “secret Christian” who says he accepts Christ in his heart yet keeps on denying Him before the world is not a true Christian.
The Applied New Testament Commentary The New Way of Righteousness (10:5–21)
Believing and confessing always go together, just as justification and salvation always go together. Having believed, we confess our faith. Having been justified, we receive salvation. These things cannot be separated.
2. Claim Your Assurance
2. Claim Your Assurance
Romans 10:11-13
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes upon Him will not be put to shame.”
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him,
for “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Salvation is for everybody no doubt! in modern terms this is an all inclusive offer. When the scripture says whoever it means whoever. The last scripture we will look at and I will be finished is
3. Choose Life Today
3. Choose Life Today
1 John 5:11-12
And the witness is this, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have that life.
The Applied New Testament Commentary Testimony to Christ (5:6–12)
Without faith in Christ, there can be no eternal life (see John 3:36 and comment). Through faith we have the Son and, together with Him, eternal life.
So the message I think we would get from beyond the grave would be this,
The Clock is Ticking: Embrace Salvation Today.
The Clock is Ticking: Embrace Salvation Today.
My friends and family, life is not about the house you live in, the car you drive or the money you have made. All these things will not last forever.
Let the passing of my sister be a wake up call to how short life can be.
The Bible says in James 4:14
James 4:14 (LSB)
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
An Anglican bishop once said,
God has given to man a short time here upon earth, and yet upon this short time eternity depends.
Jeremy Taylor (Anglican Bishop and Writer)
If anyone is here today that is not saved, Don’t leave here today without making sure that your salvation is secure The Lord Jesus Christ said in
John 10:9 “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
Enter the door while it is still open, today is the day of salvation. Thank you
