Five ways to know True Christianity from false religion.

1. Jesus is God.

John 1:1-14, Matthew 1:21-23, Isaiah 7:14.
Not merely a prophet or teacher, but fully divine.

2. Jesus Died for our sins.

1 Corinthians 15:3, 1 John 1:7, 2:2.
His death was substitutionary and necessary for salvation.

3. Jesus rose from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:4, Romans 10:9.
Proving His victory over sin and death.
This also refuted and still refutes those who claim that Jesus did not raise from the dead or that taught that there was no resurrection of the dead (such as the Sadducees). Acts 23:8, 1 Corinthians 15:12-19.

4. Jesus came in the flesh.

1 John 4:2-3, John 1:14, Matthew 1:21-23.
Affirms His true humanity and refutes Gnostic errors.

5. Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah!

1 John 5:1, John 20:31, Matthew 16:16.
The anointed one promised in Scripture, fulfilling God’s redemptive plan.
Christ, Greek word -
Messiah, Hebrew word -
These are understood by the Jews of the day to be the same term or understood to be speaking of the same person.
Matthew 26:63.
Isaiah 7:14 , Isaiah 9:6–7.

Historically The Creeds were written to combat such heresies concerning Jesus.

Why is it today Christian’s today seem unconcerned with such heresies?
Answer: Most Christian’s today don’t know what they believe about Jesus or why they believe what they believe about Jesus.
This is due to a lack of familiarity to God’s word.
We live in a time of half hearted devotion to Christ, so we should not be surprised that none will stand to defend him.

The Problem

If you find someone who denies any of these, if you find a “Christian” or a “Church” that denies any of these 5 truth’s about Christ: They are not Christian, they are false religions, false prophets and false believers.
They are goats among the sheep.
They are tares among the wheat.
They are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The Solution

Tell them the Truth in Love.
Pray for their conversion.
Do not believe such people and do not worship with them.
We live in a day and an age where we do not think about protecting the purity of Christ’s church.
Yet we are compelled not to fellowship with false teachers. 2 John 10–11 “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”
Galatians 1:6–10.

Application

We must know the real Jesus and teach the real Jesus.
Study John 1, Colossians 1 and Hebrews 1.
2. Guard the fellowship of the Church.
3. Speak the truth Boldly, but Lovingly.
4. Finally, Pray for
the proclamation of the Gospel.
the purity of the Gospel.
the potency of the Gospel.
the conversion of those who believe a false gospel.
